A Resurrection
It really is great to see a bit of life around here again. I'm still not sure what the management (henceforth a.k.a. the gobdaws) were playing at with the other forum, but the relegation of this one left me with that feeling you only get from watching ego at work.

Re: A Resurrection
Loopz told me and tbh I still don't understand. Something to do with the change of format on the official site I think.

Re: A Resurrection
So... this forum is the way forward then?
I hope so... been sniffing around here far too long to not be emotionally attached to it.

Re: A Resurrection
I always thought that the desicion to launch the new forum was a smack in the teeth for Steve. After all, it was here that was the first port of call for any info long before before the book of face or any of the other social media sites took off. It wasn't his fault that it had become a bit of a dead zone. If there is nothing happening there is not much to talk about and here had languished as a result. I understand there was a bit of a new broom thing going on with the Lads' management and that a fresh start were seen as a good thing.
Sometimes though, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Here had work and was still working, if on a much reduced scale. All it took was a bit of a push. There are a few other forums I frequent and in all cases the place to to for interesting news and yak about the topic at hand is the fan site rather than the official one. I'm not saying that the offical sites don't have their use but but the vibrancy of interaction generally comes from the fans and the fan sites show this. Maybe it's just a 'let's stay away from the man' thing.
Also, and this just may be me being a stick-in-the-mud, the other site didn't do a whole pile for me. I found it cofusing and counter-intuitive. Like i said though, that's probably just me

Re: A Resurrection
Thanks both
I always find official sites as somewhere you never go frequently. Forum based sites tend to be the more interesting places as it's more dynamic! I think out of the official websites out there, i probably visit depeche mode dot com more than any. Why? Becuase it changes a lot and mostly because their forum is busy.
I have to admit, i was hitting my head against a brick wall with some of the "ways forward". I've never been a fan of facebook and especially not as the forefront of promoting Orbital. Times change but also some things come back full circle.

Re: A Resurrection
facebook is evil! i log in once a month and sometimes i consider to unregister somehow, but i dunno how, but on the other hand, there are some friends from schools with whom i can be in contact for some yeary pub meetings, so its not that evil, but still..Loopz wrote:I have to admit, i was hitting my head against a brick wall with some of the "ways forward".
