Re: Orbital - Forever (Symphonic Version)
Ahh, at last. And one of my favourite Orbital tunes as well.
It's about time someone did this with the Lads' music. There has always been a classical quality to a lot of what they have produced to my ear and I have always thought that it would translate well to "proper" instruments.
However it is lacking a little in depth imo. The Balenescu Quartet did an album of Kraftwerk covers called Possesed that has what I consider to be a fantastic version of Autobahn. Orbital's music has many more layers though and I think a full orchestra may be needed to bring out the tonality.
Having said that I did enjoy it and look forward to more of this sort of thing.

Isn't that on their Acoustek album that they released some years back?

You could buy the album it's off - it's a bunch more tracks of this sort of thing. It's from 11 years ago though, so you have to look backward, not forward.legspin wrote:Having said that I did enjoy it and look forward to more of this sort of thing.

To be honest though, I think it was only Smokebelch on the album that I thought worked particularly well. Instrumental supported Orbital at Brixton the last time around. Was a nice choice of warm-up.

Typically me tbh. I have a track record of discovering things way after anyone else.Funky Dung wrote: You could buy the album it's off - it's a bunch more tracks of this sort of thing. It's from 11 years ago though, so you have to look backward, not forward.
