That sucks... I can totally relate too, since last summer in Turkey some guys broke into our (my family's) boat when we were in a restaurant, and stole a lot of stuff, like for example a laptop that had all the pictures we had taken that summer in it (including those that I took from the air when paragliding for the first time). The bastards had also set up fires in the boat (probably because they couldn't find the light swithces) and we were lucky that the whole boat didn't burn.

Sorry to hear that mate...fortunately i have not been broken into (touches wood) but i know how i felt when I had mine keyed a few years back (i have a pristine show car which had no marks on it at all and is meticulously looked after) the f**kers did one complete side and the bonnet down to bare metal...revenge with a pair of pliers and a blowtorch came to mind ( if i could confirm who did it)...when the police said they couldnt really help...!

Christ! Why don't you make copies rather than taking the risk of losing them all everytime you travel anywhere?
(Or was this one of those sarcastic jokes that I tend too miss oh-so-easily?)

I wish I was joking.
Unfortunately this is the only place I have to store them. Having 2 small boys (I like to call them the destructocons) at home has meant everything like vids, dvds and cds have all been put away safely. All available storage space has thus already been used (small house). I have them in a couple of flight cases but the elder boy has figured how to open the catches (I came home one day to find him driving a toy tractor over about 150 of them). I have them all saved onto my computer if they do get purloined, but you're right, it is a dumb place to keep them.

Stealing a man's tools is about as low as it gets because they're not only depriving you of the value of the tools, but the living you would have earned with them. My van was cleaned of tools nearly 4 years ago & I would still perform open heart surgery on the culprits if I caught them!
Sorry to hear about your loss - I wish you the best in finding the scum in a dark alley somewhere, ........."I saw nothing officer".
