R.I.P. Les Paul 1915-2009

Post by Kagey »

A legend has left us today

Without Les Paul and Leo Fender, rock n roll just wouldn't have been the same

a truly inventive, forward thinking individual in his design and his playing

A truly sad kagey

Unless you plug the wires directly into your skull, at the end of the chain is a set of speakers pumping back-and-forth turning ANY signal into analogue waves..."

Without Les Paul the solid bodied electric guitar would still be only a bit player in the world of music, instead of the driving force behind so many bands. Between himself and Leo Fender they revolutionised popular music with a robust and cheap instrument of the masses. The only likeness I can draw is with that of Robert Moog and his importance to the synth.

RIP.

Being an old T Rex fan, the Gibson Les Paul was the first guitar I heard about.

Slugs! HE created slugs! They can't hear. They can't speak. They can't operate machinery. Are we not in the hands of a lunatic?
