...tablets! tut tut!

Ok here is the score. I am rubbish at taking tablets and normally i just chew them (regardless of the foul taste). Alas i have tablets that are capsules and there is strict instructions not to chew.

so i need some tips on how to swallow tablets. I expect Dolly may well have the best tips (only joking of course )

Try this

Have your glass of water (booze, coke, tea, whatever) ready. Cup the tabs in your hand. Almost throw the tabs to the back of your mouth, trying to get them as far back as you can. Quickly but carefully take a swig of your chosen beverage. Swallow tabs at same time as liquid.

Keep drinking your beverage until the tablets go down if you don't get them down the first time.

Insert them rectally...

I apologize for being an idiot.

What works for me is to place the capsule aligned straight with my tongue as far back as I can and then quickly swallowing it with any beverage. Also remember to drink before and after swallowing the tab too.

oh, i am a disaster too at swallowing stuff too. (pills mostly)

i just can't swallow something before i chew on it.

so what i did, was take a piece of bread / cookie / chimpanzee, whichever you prefer really. and chew on it.. putting the pill in your mouth after chewing.. or before, but be careful not to chew it.. you get the point.

and then swallow the whole thingamabob.

Actually, I do have the best tip for this, presuming you like banana's?

Take a bite-sized piece, push the tablet right into the middle of it and swallow - voila
Will probably work with other similar-textured foods too...

haha. i love the tips folks and i will certainly try them out n report back. Tonight was easy and some days are like that. I more or less took it with one gulp so we shall see what happens tomorrow. I knew Dolly would have a unique technique

i couldnt possibly comment on the best way to swallow tablets....My mum might be a secret member of this forum!!!!

Swallowing tablets suck, genius idea from Ms Dagger, although all I would say is make sure your throat isnt dry cos theres nothing worse than it sticking in your throat

Oh yes plz Dolly... my cats are a pain in the ass with taking tablets!

i find the more water you have in your mouth the easier it is to swallow tablets.. so take a massive gulp!

Ok well cats have gaps in their teeth either side of the front of their mouths. You need to hold your cat firmly on your lap. Then you just pop the tablet into their mouth through the side gap and hold their mouth shut. In their panic they swallow the tablet. Sounds cruel but my vet told me that! Or if you have a greedy bugger, do like my banana trick & insert the tablet into a chunk of cat food. Just give him a little serving & he'll usually eat it without knowing
