Technical help (music)

I need help (yeah yeah...)

I brought some cd's into work to play on my pc here as I'm fed up sitting in silence most days. I put the cd in the disk drive and then opened Windows Media Player and clicked on play audio cd. BUT it plays them at a fast speed. Alison Goldfrap sounds like Mickey Mouse!! I've had a look around the control panel and can't find anything relating to speed played. What can I do?

It's a Compaq PC, pentium 4 processor, running Windows 2000 (I think) if that helps? Also Steve often sends me funny videos and they play at the right speed on the same WMP :?

Lol! I quite like the idea of Mickey singing Utopia!
Sorry Dolly, I have no idea why it would be playing at a faster speed... I have never heard of this problem before. Can you not rip the CDs onto the Hard drive, then play them from that? But then again it might rip em Chipmunk style.
Hmm.
Do you have a home PC? You could rip some Cds as WMAs and stick a few albums worth on a CDR, long winded I know but that might work.

Try this?

To use the Fast-Forward or Rewind button to change playback speed

1. In Windows Media Player, begin playing content.
2. If you are playing an audio or video file:
To play at 1.4 times the normal speed, click the Fast Forward button once.
To play at 2.0 times the normal speed, click the Fast Forward button twice.
To play at 5.0 times the normal speed, click the Fast Forward button three times.
To return to normal speed, click the Fast Forward button four times.
3. If you are playing a video file only:
To rewind, click the Rewind button once.
To return to normal speed, click the Rewind button twice.

To play content at variable speeds
1. In Windows Media Player, begin playing content.
2. Click Now Playing, click the Select Now Playing options button, point to Enhancements, and then click Play Speed Settings, as shown in the following screen shot.

3. In the Enhancements pane, move the Play Speed slider to the speed at which you want to play the content, or click the Slow, Normal, or Fast link, as shown in the following screen shot.

Your content now plays at the speed you selected. To select speeds between the labeled play speeds, clear the Snap slider to common speeds check box.
