Love to go, but...:
a) It's on a Friday - would have to take about half a day off to get up to Newcastle.
b) Going to an Underworld gig in London that night...

On point a), don't know if it helps but you can get a train on a friday night which takes just over 3 hours to get to the Toon. So if you can get to KX for 6 you could be at the Sage for 9:30ish.
Can't help you on b) though!!!
