I know its friday and probably like most i am in a top mood.

But...just went home for lunch and one of those bl00dy annoying Jamster mobile phone adverts came on and brought my mood momentarily right down...how damn annoying are these adverts....when will they end??!!

1st - it was the frog...annoying enough :x
2nd- it was that p**sing fluffy yellow bird
3rd - if one bird wasnt enough they had to partner it up with its mate

and now i see that there is a......

4th - a flippin dragon

All of which singing the most annoying songs that end up sticking in your head for the rest of the day......

aRRRRGH...am i alone here?!!?

Nope.

I FUCKING HATE THOSE ADVERTS TOO!!!

The thing that has me in stitches though is that certain parents complained about "Crazy Frogs" gonads!
So much so that the rip off companies that finance such drivel had to cover him up with a leaf!

I mean come on! Why is a cartoon frogs wobbly bits offensive?
Shouldn't the question be, if he has the veg...wheres the meat?
Poor sod, I actually feel sorry for him.
I mean it wasnt as if he was "standing to attention" or anything...

At least the adverts seem to be contained to cable though. I dont think these companies could afford to purchase a lot of airtime on terrestrial TV.

I would have to agree.
There is a a whole raft of explanations as to the phenomenum of the moblie ring tone, but the most coherant I have heard deals with our herd mentality, in that we all follow trends within society, (some more slavishly than others), crossed with our innate desire to have noticable differences from other members of the herd. The ubiquity of the moblie phone plays into this scenario very easily.

Capitalism them introduces it's trump card by fooling people into the illusion that having a ring tone is somehow indicative of your personality, thereby creating an artifical need out of a transient want.

The days of the moble phone as a status symbol are long gone, the true status is in not having one
(if you're important enough, people will find you anyway).

My own theory extents to, if you feel that having a noticable ring tone is important, you deserve to have your money taken from you 8)

As always Rebuttals Counter-Theories and Arguments greatly appreciated

Btw those ads are on terrestrial tv here and they drive me insane :mad :mad :mad

Unfortunately not, they're on terrestial TV as well...

It's the kind of advert aimed at kids who either have too much money, or have parents with too much money to spend on them - isn't it something like 3 or 4 quid per ringtone/movie or whatever they are?

But, yeah, they annoy me as well...

Aparently once you sign up for a ringtone or whatever, they keep bombarding you with texts that cost money to open and read...
If true this seems like daylight robbery

My manager just told me about his best friends 13year old son who racked up a bill of just over £1000 in a month cos he signed up to a number of ringtones and jokes through a similar set up to Jamster and they just bombarded his phone with texts etc that he inadvertently was paying for...

You most certainly aren't alone. Those things make me bloody mad! :x :x :x :x

Here in Finland it's called Jamba! instead of Jamster, but it's the same thing. Now they've also added this very annoying "party-bee" ringtone/animation. :x

BTW, has anyone else noticed that the sound that the frog makes is stolen from this old web flash animation thingy (that was also posted on the old forums here a looooooooooooooooooooong time ago) where there's a race car and you're supposed to look at it until you start to laugh? Can't find it anywhere though...

Also, on the subject of making money off of kids with cellphones, do they have these über-annoying TV-chat shows in countries other than Finland? Daytime TV in Finland is unwatchable because they show these instead of (reruns of) something good. :x The worst type are these 3D characters that you can make say/sing/rap anything you want with a stupid computerised voice by sending an sms to the show. Every message costs about a euro if I remember correctly and even TV-shop commercials are more fun to watch...

These companies should be shut down. Charging people extortionate amount of money for ringtones is pretty cheeky, but then signing them up to mailing lists and sending them text messages that cost the receiver up to £1000 a month should be completely illegal!

kvagga: yup, i thought exactly the same thing about that racing car web-thingy the first time i saw the so called 'crazy' frog. in fact, i'm quite surprised i haven't heard it mentioned anywhere except for in here so far........

i hate my mobile. it keeps on switching itself off, decides to hide right at the bottom of my bag so i can never find the bloody thing when somebody rings me, makes me manually switch between the two different memories (phone and sim) and looks far too penile for my liking. on the other hand, the ringtone is Under The Bridge by RHCP, which is kinda okay and makes me look like i've got cool when i'm ripping my bag apart on the bus trying to find the damn thing.

Maybe we're the only one's who have noticed this robbery. :D

We should find the maker of the race-car thingy, inform him and with any luck, he would sue crazy-frogs ass.

Those Jamster Mobile ads are here too. They seem to be on at every other commercial break, non-stop. Stupid ass screen savers, ridiculous ring tones & completely useless text services. I'm so damn sicks of them too!!!

Looks like they've become quite a global menace.

I haven't seen a Jamster ad here in Canada, not even on one of the US networks (which tend to have American commercials stripped out and replaced with Canadian ones most of the time).

Thank goodness, because I saw them in Australia and they're horrible.
