As i understand from the booklets of the DVD, Meltdown was used for some sort of dance performance (that wasn't filmed).
lately i've been listening more to meltdown and i love it more and more, And the idea of this song in a theatre, with dance... it sounds awesome..
was it a one time only performance? are there pictures?
did anyone of the forumpeople see it? why wasn't it filmed?
oh, and another thing (slighly related) Why wasn't the altogether released on vinyl?

I think the altogether wasn't released on vinyl because of the DVD release (money issues).
Re. the meltdown festival - bit stupid not to film it - would have made a good vid to the massive version of Meltdown.

I was at Meltdown... Trust me, you wouldn't want to see what was happening on the stage when the music was playing...
Don't ask, just take my word for it

Ok, Loopz can confirm this, he was there too...
Gridwork of blue & yellow lights on the stage, pointing vertically. People in leotards running inbetween them, flapping their arms occasionally and making the odd jump.
That was it.
Honestly.
Seriously.
Still want to see that on DVD?

Aah, modern art.. what's not to like about it
so it was that bad?
are you sure?
did you look at the right stage?
the DVD booklet says:
Orbital felt that no other visual accompaniment could replace the original collaboration.
sounds like they where impressed
or too lazy to make another video

That sounds very very funny!
I'm sure I would have pissed myself if I was there...

As I said, ask Loopz... He was there too.

Well i think thats very harsh Dog - i personally think there was a lot more to it than that. Its probably just not your thing and its obvious Orbital doesnt share your view with their comments neither (Timbob already outlined what they wrote on the DVD).
There was talk of filming the performance again for the DVD but i think time was the deciding factor.

Any 'Meltdown' fans want to buy the ultimate souvenir? An UNUSED ticket to the ONLY EVER performance of 'Meltdown'! Come on, make me an offer!
I was meant to go with Loopz, but ended up staying in the pub to watch an England match instead.

Nah, it's only Soccer in America - football everywhere else in the world!
It depends on who England were playing and in what competition at the time - there was a similar dilemna with Orbital's Thursday Brixton gig last year... Thankfully, I was at Glastonbury that day, watching the football in a big crowd!
