Kids - newsletter - Paul Hartnoll Remixes Sh*tdisco

Post by Karnorjax »

Greetings people,

Lots to tell you about so I'd better get on with it......

First off - the release of The Wombats' Backfire at the Disco has been moved back a week to April 16th. This is to accomodate some instore gigs for the band - the largest of which will be at Liverpool City Centre HMV on Monday 16th April - more details as we get them.......If you haven't preordered the single yet - get over to here: http://www.hmv.co.uk (search for The Wombats)......

KIDS went international last Wednesday with an official showcase at SXSW in Texas at Friends Bar - LA rockers Dust and Blood opened up before the awesome Honeycut vibed up the crowd (we will be releasing their debut UK single in July - more details nearer the time) with their mashup of soul, hip hop and indie, before The Wombats took to the stage to wow the assembled masses. 'Twas a great night!

The Wombats played 5 shows in total including a 6Music showcase - Steve Lamacq has already played a live version of new song 'School Uniforms' and Huw Stephens will be playing another one on his next 6Music show.

The Wombats have also been receiving yet more radio play from Zane Lowe, Colin Murray, XFM and even Jo Whiley! And look out for their performance on Friday at the MTV2 Spanking New Music night at the Anson Rooms in Bristol alongside Biffy Clyro, The Twang and Hadouken!

-Onto Paul Hartnoll's upcoming release, 'Please', featuring The Cure's Robert Smith on vocals - thanks for the amazing preorder response we've had so far - your records will be with you on May 7th when the track is released and you won't be disappointed! Zane Lowe and Colin Murray have already spun the track on Radio 1 and there'll be more to come...... We've sold out of preorders from our site but there'll be HMV preorder links up soon - we'll let you know when we have them.......

Paul has recently finished work on 2 remixes: firstly for Culprit 1 (whose reciprocal remix of Please features as the B-side on the 7" version) - his mix mutates Culprit's 'Tricks' into a behemoth dancefloor electro/breaks anthem, already creating a huge buzz with the more discerning crowds and setting clubs alight. This version has recently made waves with the good people at One Week To Live, who named it their single of the week, calling it an epic future classic that will have darkened dancefloors up and down the country heaving.

It's available to buy from iTunes now (search for Culprit 1 and it's the first track) and it'll be the B-side on the 12" when it's released which will be soon.........

In addition, Paul has done an awesome mix of Sh*tdisco's forthcoming single 'OK' which will be the B-side on the 12" version which will be released in about 5 weeks' time on the excellent Fierce Panda label. These pioneers of 'new rave' (whatever that is ;-) have been much talked about for a while - OK is undoubtedly their strongest track to date and Paul's mix takes it in a whole new direction........ We will let you know release details when we have them!

As if this wasn't enough, Paul has been confirmed as one of the headliners for The Big Chill which will take place at Eastnor Castle Deer Park, deep in the Malvern Hills from 3-5 August 2007. More info here: http://www.bigchill.net/festival.html

-Finally (phew)......we are honoured to be able to announce that we will be releasing the debut UK single from American group Band of Horses. The epic 'Funeral' is taken from their debut album 'Everything all the Time' which was released on Sub Pop in the US. This magnificent single will be released on May 21st to coincide with their trip to the UK to play ATP and a headline show at London's Scala. Again - purchase details when we have them!
