General Orb News Thread

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

Will definitely be having a copy of 'Orbsessions' from Malicious Damage. I'm on their mailing list, so no doubt will find out when it's on sale...

May I just but in to say that the new Transit Kings album is totally blinding. The best output I've heard from Dr Alex in many-a-year.

'Japanese Cars' Mmmmmm

That's it arrived today - only had a quick squiz through the tracks but there is some quality here.
Indeed - should have released this instead of Orbus Terraum or Cydonia....

Yeah, this IS lovely...

Like the "3AM Eternal" bits in "Mummie Don't" - obviously a Cauty/Patterson collaboration! 8)

Okie Dokie is brilliant - chilled out tech house that really hits the spot.

Another quality "comeback" album - so far FSOL, BoC, Depeche Mode and now The Orb.

Jolly Good!

If you hadn't already noticed the thread elsewhere, we've also got Alex Paterson at our next warehouse party.

email digitalcity@hotmail.co.uk for guestlist access.....

Up & coming Orb news:

- If OrbSessions Vol. 1 sells well (big demand), then 'Orbsessions Vol. 2' will be released, which Alex hopes will be the whole of the original Space album (with Orb samples left in), which he might go and rework some of the tracks with Jimmy Cauty.
- Transit Kings album is on the horizon - no release date as yet.
- MadOrb album is in progress (a planned dub set with Mad Professor)
- New Orb album out in 2006 called "Dreamland" (a collaboration with Youth) - it's going to be an old-school Orb album

FAB! 8)

Loving the new Orb stuff - both Okie Dokie and OrbSessions.

Thought people here might be interested in the new System 7 album - Mirror System. It's a dubby, downtempo album (hence the new artist name, also Mirror System), but very nice in an old-school Orb way. One of the tracks is a collaboration with Alex Paterson, also.
Definitely ticks all my boxes!

Full info and samples at http://www.a-wave.com/mirrorsystem/

And, Play.com are currently selling it for the crazy price of £5.62. Get it before they realize their mistake!

I really like 'Okie Dokie', which surprised me because I've never been an Orb fan... maybe I just skimmed right past and missed out? Captain Korma is one of my favourite songs from this year.
