Just testing the water at the moment, but having recently attended a 9 hour Floyd Tribute Evening I was wondering who would be up for a Floydfest next summer with all the Floyd albums, plus several videos being the backdrop to a long summer evening.
Register here for a possible long summer night.

As someone who worked in HMV Liverpool for many years and had to explain to shellsuited scallies looking under 'F' for 'floyd, kiddddeerrrr!', that they really wanted the 'P' section, I was always conditioned against listening to Gilmour, Waters and Co.
However, my interest in Pink Floyd has been growing steadily over the last year or so. I loved them at Live8, they were the highlight of it for me. Then my friend recently got the Pulse DVD which is cool, and I've just read Nick Mason's Inside Out autobiography.
So, for someone who only has Dark Side Of The Moon...where should I go next? Animals or Wish You Were Here sound like they may appeal to me.
Oh, and yes, I'd be up for this Muke...

Wish You Were here's brilliant but it's lacking the funk and soul of Dark Side (deliberately). So if those elements of that album appealed to you, go for Animals or Meddle. If you like the epic scope and melancholy, go Wish You Were Here. All brilliant though.

Cheers Ed.
I love the track Wish You Were Here (I think it's Pt2??) so I'll probably go out and buy the album this weekend...

Personally it would have to be 'Meddle'. 'Echoes' is repeatedly voted the best Floyd track, iirc, and I would have to agree. The rest of the album isn't too bad but overall 'Wish you were here' is a better album however.
Echoes always swings it though.
Anywhere is not a bad place to start, but avoid the Final Cut if at all possible (again imo)

Fan-fucking-tastic album. You need to get your ear tuned into the finer side of Pink Floyd first (Roger Waters in particular) but once you do, it's an absolute joy.

Although I'm not a big fan of "The Final Cut", "Not Now John" is one of my favourite Floyd tracks.
Predicatbly perhaps, "Meddle", "Dark Side Of The Moon" and "Wish You Were Here" are my favourite Floyd long-players.

Got to admit I'm more of an "Ummagumma" man myself, my favourite Floyd track is "Set the Controls For the Heart of the Sun".
