It was mental. :D And just a short walk from home too. My thanks to stimpee for letting me know about this. Did anyone else (Kansler?) go? Sorry for not making plans to meet up with anyone, but the whole thing was very last minute for me (even got the tickets only one day before it was on).

Oh, and first post on new board, so hello hello, it's me Kvagga again. :) And first post is supposed to be something funny? Try this: http://www.weed.ru/temp/catglobus.swf

I gotta admit, even though I'm a Finn, having actually never listened to any of the bands featured (including Brothomstates) before Friday (even though I have listened to a big bunch of other IDM artists)... But after last nights performance I definately need to hear more. :D

Anyway judging by the sound of things, the brothomstates set sounded pretty improvised (extremely well at that too). :) Altough I can't be even sure that it was brothomstates, since I'm not sure that the bands played in the same order as posted on the website, because the bands didn't start their sets according to the time schedules and I think there was four bands instead of the three that they said there was gonna be (altough it might of been some guys playing twice too, since I couldn't really tell with all the smoke from the smokemachine). :)

You can try to figure out the artist order by these descriptions:

The first artist played a really short set, with only a couple of songs. It was very tasty standard mellow IDM.

The second band played something that sounded like a lovely hybrid of a bit less experimental IDM, House, Reggae (they had a singer) and a bunch of other styles.

The third band played some really lush somewhat Plaidesque IDM, but with more complex beats than Plaid usually has. I'd really like to know who they were, since I now have to get my hands on a CD of theirs. :)

The fourth band played something that sounded like a mad fusion of IDM and Techno (even incorporating beefy, squelchy acid-lines every now and then), and I just had to go and dance my ass of to that supercool music. :)

The only stuff that I recognised in the event, was the music played by the DJ, who put on most of my favourite idm and ambient songs before the artists came on. :)

Yeah I know it's supposed to be only one person (Lassi Nikko), but I swear there were two guys on the stage (the other operating a laptop and the other next to him some other device, that I wasn't sure what it was, maybe a synth-rack, a mixing table or a sequencer of some sort). :)

Now listening to the lovely free internet album from Brothomstates (Kobn-Tich-Ey) , I'd say it must've been them or then possibly the first guy who played (looking at a picture of Lassi Nikko, if memory serves me right, he looked the most like him too, but I couldn't see the laptop operators face with band 3 though). If twas the first guy, it would mean that the bands played in a completely different order than we were told though, so I think that it must've been the third guys after all, and Nikko had just some guy helping him out... :)

I'm so sorry (mostly for myself) that I couldn't make it there. this ought to have been grreeeat. :(

I couldn't get any tickets. I tried pestering them via e-mail but they never replied.

having seen brothomstates only once before, this would've been a nice chance to renew connections. well, glad SOMEONE got served well. :P

...

luckily my friday night didn't go all wasted, as I danced to a NEVERENDING breakbeat/dnb/jungle DJ Infekto (&co) set that night in Tampere.

If stuff like that IDM event happens again, though, I'm gonna suck cuck to get in!

Cuck must be something really awful, since it isn't even in the dictionary. ;) But yes, definately suck some if there is another event like this. :)

Shame you missed it and I guess I was lucky since I just had to e-mail them once 2 days before to get an answer :) A night of breakbeat and d'n'b sounds good too, so don't feel too sorry for yourself. :)

Way blurry, but you get the idea... First two are taken from the seats and the last one from the dancefloor. :)
