Most exciting news for me was that Lou Rhodes (ex-Lamb) solo album 'Beloved One' has been shortlisted

I'd be happy to see Thom Yorke win it, but even happier if Hot Chip got it...
However, it'll be Editors, Artic Monkeys or Muse...

Arctic Monkeys seem by far the favourites which probably means they won't win.
I'm not a betting gal but I have a hunch it'll be something quirky like the Guillemots or Hot Chip (or Editors - lol, still as indecisive as ever!!!)

I cant believe Acid Casuals werent nominated.
Actually I can.
Cant be arsed with the Mercury nominations anymore... it seems a cursed award anyhoos (if yer superstitious that is).
Whoever win are likely to disappear into obscurity as soon as they pick up the award.
Mem "The Optimist".

hm sounds like a lot of people rate the thom yorke album. tbh when i hear 'thom yorke' i think 'whiney bitch', but i'm willing to give the album a go... i got into his whiney vocals on rabbit in your headlights at least

anyway, have, um, acquired the album, will give it a go later.
guess i don't expect lou rhodes to win (and that's not to say that i don't think she should), but i'm happy for her for getting the nomination.

ahh thats his style though. Dont expect him to be singing all soprano
His music is also great on that album and a good combination with his voice. It got slated by a lot of Radiohead fans though.

gave it a listen (not long is it?) - two or three tracks i really got into, black swan was one of them. others i felt i would have liked more without the vocal

& some just didn't really do it for me.
i still vote lou

My money's on Richard Hawley to win.
