Easytree shuts down

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

Easytree shuts down

Hello gals and guys,

We're very sorry having to tell you that we had to shut down EZT just a couple of minutes ago.

We got a call from our provider, they had received a few letters from a couple of lawyers. They requested EZT to be shut down immediately, otherwise we and the hosting service would be sued.

As you may imagine, we do not have the funds to fight a battle we most probably can't win anyway.

We would like to thank everyone here for their contributions to EZT, one way or the other, for sharing the music, sharing an ideal, for all your mails, rants, praises...

To say it with Joan Armatrading:

We had fun, fun, fun, fun
fun, fun, fun, fun
we had fun -- while it lasted...
--"Tall in the Saddle"--

You all take good care!

Easytree was a bit torrent site that indexed mainly unreleased live performances.

Just don't confuse easyetree with etree (http://www.etree.org) which is a site indexing lossless (no MP3) copies of live performances and whatnot legally (authorized by the artists).

gutted,

i heard a rumour that it could have been Prince's lawyers. he is notoriously strict on music control.

there are other sites that are worthy of being shut down. easytree never had any commercially available stuff on it. i dont get it.

If they made it invite only now and gave all of their existing members loads of invites then it probably wouldn't have to be shut down again.

...

Phil: Hold on a minute...

...

Phil: Oh, that's better.. thankyou!

it's a shame, since...

1) there's a market for such a place
2) most of the live stuff was definitely not ILLEGAL in any sense (I think they should've, or at least COULD have, stuck to purely-legit material in order to keep it running.)

...

I bet it was MPAA at it again, together with the recording giants!
... Yea I know MPAA are supposedly after FILMS, but they've been closing down sites with music, porn, series etc. etc. just because they CAN. stupid gits. :x
It's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake
