Great....for me the season has started today...thats me sneezing, itching all over my body, watery sore itchy eyes where people think you have been crying all the time (has anyone ever tried itching your eyeball??? In utter desparation for some relief I have!!!), bloody nose which seems to also be constantly blocked and itches, headaches, generally feeling tired and lousy until mid July.

Visit to the doctors for my repeat prescription after work i think....for what good it does!

Went to a party out in the middle of the countryside near Maidstone on Saturday and half the congregation was sniffing and sneezing all over the place.

And no, it had nothing to do with it being columbian flu before anyone asks. Well not entirely.

I never really suffered until I took to cycling a few years back. Now I get the tight throat, itchy eyes, runny nose and sneezes in the summer.
I wouldn't get anything on prescription for it Mem! I use a homeopathic remedy which helps a lot, it's called New Era for Hayfever & allergic rhinitus, in a blue & white tube from most health shops and large chemists - why don't you try it?

Never suffered from it (being as farm boy this was a blessing) but whenever any of the cousins came home from England, 2 or 3 of them would always spend the holidays weeping and sniffling.

Now I am not sure of this is correct but there seems to be a link between cleanliness and various allergic responses. I remember a doc on the radio here saying that children that have mothers that are fastidious about cleaning and dusting are more likely to suffer from Hayfever and Asthma. The body's histemic reactions to invasion are always on a hair trigger and if the house is kept clear of dirt and and microbes. then it will look for other things to attack. Thus it sees pollen as being an invader and reacts out of proportion.
Again not sure if this is completely correct but remebering the cousins that got hayfever there is a certain ring of truth to it. ie if you don't want your kids to get hayfever, don't clean them

I like that theory, Legspin - it may explain why I was asthmatic as a child & teenager but I'm alright now.

My mum was a bit over the top when cleaning up etc - she even ironed socks, FFS!

Dolly - I assume you meant that suggestion for a possible prescription alternative for me as Memly is one of the lucky ones who does not suffer! Will give that a go but the Clarityn is holding out at the moment!

Legspin - Love it...am phoning my Mum later to blame my hayfever on her tidyness about the house when i was a child!

I did Willsy, sorry

Thanks for that Legspin, now I don't feel guilty about hardly ever cleaning my house - I'm saving my kids from asthma & hayfever!!!

My boyfriend has got hayfever but he's quite good, he doesnt complain about it although you know he clearly is suffering.

I can relate to you sufferers as I have sinus trouble which have similar symptoms to hayfever.
I wish it was confined to summer months tho, I'm getting heavy sinus problems every 2 - 3 months and its a nightmare. I had an operation on my nose about 15 years ago which eased it off a lot but I think I'll need one again.

Anyone tried a nasal wash out?? Lol
