Fao Mr D. Solitude

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

Yup, it was Mike recording the 'Blue Peter' theme tune at The Manor in Oxfordshire. They had a feature on him and how he played all the instruments himself, with the exception of Simon Groome who did the drum roll at the start.

My dad was a huge Mike Oldfield fan and once I showed interest in his music, he played me the likes of 'Tubular Bells', 'Hergest Ridge', 'Ommadawn' and 'Incantations' and I loved it. He then also played me the likes of Isao Tomita and Walter (later Wendy) Carlos and thus my journey into electronic music was started at the age of about 7. I saw Mike Oldfield in concert at Wembley Arena in 1979 when I was 8 years old and I've never looked back.

At the age of 11-12 I was firmly into Oldfield, Jarre, Kraftwerk, Tomita, Carlos etc. and it all went from there, as well as some of the indie stuff kicking around like Joy Division etc.

another world outside that's full of
all the broken things that I made"

Thank you for that. I'm a little disappointed I don't remember it myself as I was still living in the UK. at the time. Mind you, I can't remember what the old theme tune sounds like now at all. :?
