I know! Too much time spent on remixing Coldplay, methinks. Still, looking forward to hearing that! I reckon it will be within the next two months.

I hate the original with a passion (as the melody is just a cheap rip off of Kraftwerk's Computer Love) but the mix is a bit better. Still lokking forward to the new album whenever it arrives.

It's not a rip-off, it's credited in the sleeve notes as a proper sample!

I'm actually not convinced by Ulrich's remix. He has basically taken the percussion from his 'Breathe Me' remix, and replaced Sia's vocals with Chris Martin's. A bit Ulrich-by-numbers I think.

Ulrich released a 12" single in the US back in June on Domino Records:

Ulrich Schnauss - ...Passing By (Domino Records USA; twdno47)

Image

Side A
A1. ...Passing By
A2. Monday - Paracetemol (Mojave 3 Remix)
Side B
B1. In All The Wrong Places
B2. Wherever You Are

"A funny thing happened on the way out of the nightclub for electronic music. In a mad rush to push the envelope of technologic and rhythmic experimentation, melody has somehow become an afterthought. Which is what makes Ulrich Schnauss? music such a breath of fresh air, a serene marriage of solid songwriting and panoramic arrangements. With backward-glancing nods to the past, Schnauss has brilliantly combined the finest ambient electronics of Eno and Boards Of Canada with the textures of My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive to create music of astounding emotional resonance that appeals to both camps simultaneously.

This 12” highlights tracks from across Ulrich?s brief campaign. “...Passing By” has become the consensus favorite off Far Away Trains, being handpicked for inclusion in Cameron Crowe's Elizabethtown. The exquisite remix of “Monday Paracetemol” by Mojave 3 is exclusive to this release. “Wherever You Are” is a highlight from the rarities disc included in Domino?s recent re-issue of Far Away Trains and “In All The Wrong Places” is on here because, well... it's just one of the most gorgeous songs Ulrich has ever written. Ulrich is putting the finishing touches on his new album just as soon as he?s done with that new Coldplay remix he's doing.."

Well it gets better and better.

=^-^=

If it's not Autechre it's Ulrich Schnauss, I found out about this young guy via, A million miles away on grand Tourismo 4.

After a long haul I eventualy obtained his, A strangely Isolated place album.

I have allready friended him on myspace.

A letter from home is my fave I think on that album, and Clear Day just makes my Ultra modern council flat Hummmm!! , despite the old cardboard.

Setting Sun

Ulrich has remixed Setting Sun by Howling Bells.

This is as close as Schnauss has ever come to sounding just like his shoegaze idols, while not losing the rich electronic sound he is famed for. A lovely mix which also has the wall-of sound atmosphere he seems to be developing and exploring on album three, but it is unfortunately very short too.
