I'm so glad I don't have to commute to work.
An un-nerving incident for everyone(not just in the capital).

It's a bit like the bad old days of the IRA, except these fucking nutters don't give warnings.
Someone should tell them - if you blow up yourself and 30 other people, NO you WON'T go to heaven and be waited on hand and foot by a harem of virgins satisfying your every need. YOU WILL GO TO HELL.
YOU ARE NOT A MARTYR, YOU ARE A COLD-BLOODED MURDERING BASTARD.

Well I got the day off work at least - we all went down the pub.
Journey to work tomorrow might be "interesting"...
Ken Livingstone's speech was EXCELLENT.

I think Ken Livingstone is a total muppet for some of his policies, but I have to agree with Alex and say that his speech at Singapore airport was superb.

What a terrible day. We probably all knew it would happen some time, but that doesn't ease the pain of the day. It's good to hear that those known to us (Rach, Pooka, Usernick et al) are well, but that's about as good as this day gets.
I'm sure I speak for everyone on this forum when I offer our most sincere condolences to everyone who was directly affected by this atrocity & who lost friends & loved ones.

I'm glad to hear all you Londoners are fine. I have managed to contact my London mates and all seem to be fine, although a few were very close to the explosions when they occurred.
Sid definately had the right idea.
Although what has happenned is completely devasting, its good to see that all the emergency services were ready for such an event.

They really did pick the wrong city. The Blitz and 30 years of the IRA have proved the average Londoner is far too tough to allow this sort of madness drive them out. That's not to say that there isn't grief and sadness at these events but it was plain to see the reaction of most Londoners was one of quiet but steely resolve to not let this monstrosity disrupt their lives.
There is one note that troubles me. I was talking to a cousin of mine in Tottenham last night, and she was saying that she was afraid that this may make the muslim community anathema, like the Irish were in the seventies.
Having been on the receiving end of some of this (my father was picked up in '76 'coz he used to work as a tunnel miner and had explosives experience) I will say at least we had the advantage of being white. If you kept your mouth shut and your head down, no one would know.
Keep going exactly as you all are
Don't let the bastards grind you down
