I watched SAW last night. Dont ask me what its taken me so long to watch but anyway it was worth the wait.

I heard that SAW is well bad. Dont think I'm gonna be able to watch it.
Me and Ali saw The Grudge at the weekend and we were so scared, so we had to get pissed!

well bad as in sick etc ? or bad as in good or bad as in crap ?

This was the first SAW film , not SAW 2 that is currently disturbing a lot of people at the cinema

I heard its a bit gruesome, but I bet it's not as bad as Creep. That film is well gross.

I was under the (faulty according to imdb and forumers?) impression that SAW was bad as in BAD. Oh well. Must see it then.

The latest film I saw: Stewie Griffin - The Untold Story... not bad.

I don't wanna get lynched, but it was better than the overrated "Incredibles", which I saw recently.

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad film at all - just a bit predictable and soft and safe and harmless and middle-of-the-road and Bambi and Diiiiissnneeeyyyy...

I'm petitioning to get it out of the imdb Top 100.

EDIT: I don't want to sound like I hate The Incredibles. I just think it was more like 8 out of 10 (maybe 7?) than 10/10. The best part being the animation, followed by the superb dialogue - dragged down by the lame bad guy and the even lamer candy-coated story development.

Still, it's better than a single "real" super hero screen adaptation to date (barring Sin City) - which tells us more about the quality of the latter, I'd say!

Saw's pretty good.
Currently watching an old Columbo on DVD with Bill Shatner in it - cracking stuff.

i finally saw the jackass movie
had a good laugh

also made clear how jackass was way way cooler then viva la bam and wildboys. i almost forgot that.

just watched anchorman, pretty funny

From what I've gathered, you either love it or you hate it.

I, for one, loved it, even though it had some weak spots.

While I'm a huge fan of Family Guy and really love SG:tUS, you can't possibly compare it to The Incredibles, which is perhaps the finest animated movie ever made.

And I especially love the villain, voiced by the previously mentioned Jason Lee.

I saw the Wallace and Gromit movie this Sunday, and it was fantastic! Even better than I expected, which is saying a lot.

I've been watching a new US TV show called Surface instead of films for the last few days.

damn good an about a new breed of sea creature thats bigger an badder than anything the ocean has to offer.

not bad once it got going. erin and her choice of outfits were quite easy on the eye too

well, I saw SAW today (is there any way of saying this without sounding humorous?).

I have to admit it gave me a bit of a thrill!

But I'm oscillating between low-end and high-end appraisal... So I'm gonna lay out the pros and the cons here:

*minor SPOILER alert!*

PROS: (which would lean towards 8/10)

- good cinematography and editing, emphasising just the right amount of tension between the scenes. The story was carried through admirably.

- nice settings! I especially enjoyed the sideline torture rooms and the weird machinery, but the main room was dire enough as well.

- enough plot twists to keep it interesting, and to keep viewers guessing. I liked the idea that really no-one's innocent (except for the young sweet daughter, of course. Of course.)

- jolly gorefest towards the end! I admit: I enjoy blood.

CONS: (which would lean towards 5/10)

- Some of the dialogue (in fact: MOST of the dialogue) was totally unbelievable, clichéd, predictable, unnatural, unreasonable and unintentionally comical. A film of this caliber should not try to act so serious when it has the appearance of a veritable B-film. I cringed often; and not because of the blood, but because of the lines.

- Some of the horror elements were so useless and tiring: The bad guy in a mask -theme, the sub-bass voice recording (ooh, spooky!), the videotape+phone+monitor("reality TV")+electroshock cadgetry (borrowed, to name some, from J-horror), the ridiculous dolls (even Chuck used to be more scary!) etc etc...

- Danny Glover as the cop was believable early on in the story, but towards the end he was painted as a caricatured loner ("I think you gotta get yourself a girlfriend"!!), obsessed about a killer, slightly insane, yet ready to risk his life for innocent victims. His role is never fully layed out, he just whimpers away.

- Is it just me, or can't the good "doctor" act?? I know it's partially the crappy dialogue, but this Cary Elwes (whose notable roles include "Robin Hood: Men In Tights" and "Liar Liar") simply made the role of the anguished father seem like not such a big deal. His expressions of hatred, fear, desperation and sorrow look really forced and faked. It wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't for the fact that he's the main character.

- Oh, and did I mention the goddamn dolls?

Overall, I'd say 6 or 7 out of 10. You might say it's got a lot of "camp" in it to make it highly recommendable (I admit I thoroughly enjoyed, for example, Cubes 1 and 2 - the third one was camel dung!). But the dialogue was such rubbish. Honestly. And those godawful dolls.

Okay, I'll give it 7/10, mainly for the riveting ending and some great visuals.

oh i think the recording is more to do with disguising the voice rather than to be scarey. ANY doll in a "horror" is pathetic.

Yeah his character is basically fucked up because of what happens to erm cant really say without spoiling! I think they did enough to give the viewer what they needed to know about him. We didnt need to know anymore i dont think.

SAW was filmed on a low budget and i believe in less than 3 weeks! thats some going but....

I saw SAWII yesterday. Give them too much money and too much time then things fall apart. Again nice twists at the end but it was way too open, way too much of story (for those who need a story after watching SAW!) and just oozed of hollywood! I like the restricted trapped elements of the characters which made it more of a head fuck. SAW II just hasnt got that.

Now now, don't overlook The Princess Bride on Cary Elwes resume.

I thought he did a decent job in Saw, until the big emotional scenes towards the end, where he crashed hard. Truly abysmal acting there.

And yeah, Danny Glover truly goes overboard towards the end.

last night i half-watched the myth of fingerprints, which was, uh, just about worth half-watching. then again i might have appreciated it more if i'd paid more attention
& before that, john q, which was pretty enjoyable.
