King in a catholic style - China Crisis (Thanks Loopz for reminding me of one of the most embarressing moments of my school days)
Get up - Technotronic (? on the name of the track but it was done with a female Mozabuiquian rapper and I still to this day will occasionally break out humming a few bars)
Axel F- Harold Faltemeyer
another 3 suggestions dredged up from the teenage nightmare that was the 80's tomorrow

Loads that I could mention, but I still listen to the following (as if anyone's shocked!

):
A Guy Called Gerald - Voodoo Ray
808 State - Pacific State
Bomb The Bass - Beat Dis
(okay, not what you'd immediately think when you hear "80's", but a lot of my other favourite tracks of that ilk, i.e. Visage's "Fade To Grey", etc, have already been mentioned)

Sweet thread! I'm having a huge 80s revival thanks to iTunes at the moment.
Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World
U2 - Pride (In the Name of Love)
The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
Oh, there's too many!

Ok i've been checking out lots of Smith songs & I love a lot of the slow miserable tracks but you want people to enjoy this night
Therefore I think "This Charming Man" would go down a storm.
Failing that "Bigmouth strikes again", "The boy with the thorn in his side", "Still ill" or "What difference does it make"

If you were doing a Smiths track, surely Hang the DJ would be most appropriate
Ooh Japan! Used to LOVE David Sylvian! What about Ghosts?!

You would have loved Johnny Marr and Andy Rourke performing "How Soon Is Now?" and "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" for the "Manchester vs Cancer" gig last month, then!
