Very different comment to 'poor year for music', though.
No, not at all... In his mind, with his tastes in music, it was a poor year.

It has been a poor year for music, I've just liked more stuff released than others. Lets face it, the PussyCat Dolls have topped the charts twice! Now if thats not poor, what the hell is? ;)

I will probably never be up to date enough to sort out the 2005 music from the 2004, 2003 (etc.) music. Right now, I can't think of a lot of great releases from 2005, but I might in a few years once I get around to discovering them. I'm still discovering new artists and albums that were released many years ago... Then again, I usually enter into new stuff slowly, but surely. Music should not be taken lightly ;)

Well, let's not forget Crazy Frog reviving some of the classic electro sounds of the 80's in a tantalizingly hilarious way. Oh man, that frog is so sweet.

Personally, I think it's been a top year for music. I've got 20-odd new albums that I really like and, in terms of club music at least, plenty of magnificent tunes have been made this year and some fantastic new producers have started to shine.

The pop charts and "high street" CD releases have generally been dreadful, but you've got to be a fool to expect anything decent to turn up there.

It's nice... A little plagiarising in places and some tracks will have you thinking where you've heard them before, but it's not a bad one to buy ;)

Don't think I have ten, but here goes (no order)

Ae - Untilted
BoC - Campfire Headphase
Gogol Bordello - Underdog World Strike
New Grass Revival - Grass Roots (Best of comp., dunno if that counts)
Chem Bros - Push the Button (shut it you all, I like it)

Damn, I guess that's it. I really need to check out the Amorphous Androgynous and the Beck.

On the other hand, I was nothing but disappointed by the NIN release, especially after The Fragile.

And finally, some late-2004 releases that still deserve mention:
Amon Tobin - Chaos Theory
RJD2 - Since We Last Spoke
Bola - Gnayse

Gotta say myself I think it's been a not bad at all year for music - here's my pick of the year:-

Vector Lovers - Capsule For One
Depeche Mode - Playing The Angel
Amorphous Androgynous - Alice In Ultraland
The Black Dog - Silenced
Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase
Beck - Guero
Ladytron - Witching Hour
Pet Shop Boys - Battleship Potemkin
Franz Ferdinand - You Could Have It So Much Better
Harmonic 33 - Music For Film, Television & Radio Volume 1
Jamie Liddel - Multiply
Brian Eno - Another Day on Earth
Jackson & His Computer Band - Smash!
The Magic Numbers - The Magic Numbers
William Shatner - Has Been (I think it was this year!)

Looking forward to 2006 - new Pet Shop Boys, FSOL, Orb and hopefully some new Hartnoll material too!

Oh yea, I finally listened to Jamie Lidell for real - It's a pretty reasonable album, Multiply is. Has its annoying parts, but at its best it's quite exciting IDM/funk crossover stuff.

A lot of Multiply put me vaguely in mind of mid-80s digital-synth R&B mixed with 70s soul/funk in the Curtis Mayfield sort of vein. Very listenable...
