I was only a social smoker really altho I'd started buying my own packs but I've already given up since NYE just gone :D

In the last couple of weeks (for personal reasons) I've had the odd puff on a mates ciggie on the odd evening, altho I don't know if it really does reduce stress, sometimes u just feel like a drag when there's a lot of pressure in your head... (well I do anyway)

I have friends that are REALLY going to struggle when this comes in...

Ultimately its a good idea, for obvious reasons. I will find it extrememly hard as I cant really see drinking lager and smoking a cigarette as two seperate tasks.

How does this law affect Festivals then?

Think of the money you'll save if you quit!
I tried a cigarette once in the first year of secondary school back in 19?? (lol), 3 drags and that was me against it for life.
I'm so looking forward to going out after July 1st, and not coming home smelling like as ashtray!

Chime
:-)
ps - I once knew a woman who smoked 80 a day, she never had a period, just a sootfall! - lol

How are us smokers gonna handle 1st July?

Any comments from the non smokers?
I'm thinking of becoming an importer of those outdoor heater things...think of the amounts of pubs and bars that will want them!!

some of my friends who are smokers, but who have been trying (occasionally) to quit for years, are looking forward to it, hoping that it might make giving up easier. i hope so.

We have had a smoking ban for about the kast two years and the only thing that it has done really is concentrate the smokers outdoors. Now all I hear is the non-smokers complaining again that they can't go outside. All the beer gardens are full of us huddling around what heat is available. The only other thing it has done is increase my cannabis consumption as I no longer feel like a lemon smoking outside

That doesn't sound THAT bad to me... in summer when it's nice enough to be outside in a beer garden there shouldn't be any need to huddle around a heat source, and for the rest of the year, being inside a smoke-free, heated room sounds lovely.

The smoking ban ties in nicely with my 18th birthday! Plenty of smoke-free pubbing and clubbing for ME next/this year!

Myself - not a smoker.

I stopped smoking a year and a half ago and used the Allen Carr book - "The Easyway to Stop Smoking". I would thoroughly recommend it to anybody that is serious about stopping.

Eurghh, yuck, etc etc!

I had a sore throat for weeks after smoking one of your "ciggies". Dave bought a few packets and continued to smoke that smelly shit for weeks when we were in Malaysia...

Horrible.
