Having heard 6/7 demo/tracks
Hey, hey wait a minute there Steve! Could this mean that a solo album is on it's way somewhat soon?

:D
i read somewhere that main writer was Paul and Phil was something like sound engineer, to make the tracks sounds better.
I read the same thing kyblik, hence my conclusions.
I think he could take them to several different directions: plump dj's type mayhem (with more of that OOMPH, yea) or maybe more towards IDM-structures like in "Lost" or stuff from Sniv (I remember he did Science Friction by himself?).
My thoughts exactly. And I think that being given the low-end treatment (yes I meant more punch to the kick, etc), the current beats would be lovely. Still I'm fine with the decision of making them less dancefloor friendly and more soundtracky (and hopefully like loopz said, more experimental). I just feel that the melodies are already so strong and kicking, that huge bassdrums would (in lack of a better word) compliment them well, yet take nothing away from the listening experience.

Maybe it's just that I'm still an oldskool Bigbeat-lover at heart, who hasn't yet quite gotten used to the fresh beats of the new millenium...
At the moment I consider Paul's music as the more edgier and sinister next step for seventies and early eighties instrumental New Wave (not the more poppy stuff, but artists like Vangelis, YMO and Jarre), that I've been listening to alot lately.

Maybe this could be called Newer Wave.

the next album will be called "Paul's Epic Battle With OOMPH"
... or not.
I think the "reason" for that rather unstressed bass sounds that Mr. Loopz (always "mr." for me) is talking about is pretty clear: As kvagga implied, too, there's sometimes a good reason in keeping the higher freqs as the dominant elements in a track - if dancefloor storming isn't your greatest concern. Of course, for DogS it HAS to be the main issue for DJ purposes - plus, we all know Dog's preferences towards PlumpDJ's kinda material.
Still, I'm not so sure that balancing between Big Beat FORM (pretty much 4/4) and more milder content is that very easily achieved successfully. I mean, if you wanna go the soundtrack/ambiance route, you better have length and progression on the way. That's what i'm hoping will happen further on: more of those 6min+ tracks!

The breaksier it is, the better it is... Actually, 'Ignition' sounds pretty good in a breaks based set.

exactly folks...if Paul is not aiming for the Dance floor and
appears to be doing more soundtrack/score stuff then there is no requirement for Bigbeat breaks. Phil will provide that for sure
I put appears in bold because i am purely going by the few demos i've heard. Who can tell what is around the corner

Makes sense to me... Also, thinking about it, 'Ignition' was designed for a handheld games console, so the levels were probably tweaked to reduce the bass because of that...
Doesn't mean someone like me can't re-EQ it to give it more rumble though...
It's all making sense now.

I really lost interest when The Designers Republis weren't involved.
I know they're not involved with 'WipeOut Pure' but it really does rock as a game... Best in the series for a looong time.
