Just a note: the KCRW set is from October 2007 and you can even watch the video of Ulrich playing the set on their website.

The remastered Goodbye (with chapetrhouse track) seems to be already available on CD but only in continental Europe.

A Shoreline Dream broke out in 2006 with their debut album, Avoiding The Consequences, making a name for themselves with hushed vocals, layered sounds and dark production. Followed up by a series of EPs and a partnership with German Ulrich Schnauss, the band is now preparing for the 2009 release of their sophomore full-length, Recollections of Memory.

“Hypermode” is the first leaked MP3 from Recollections of Memory, and is a result of yet another collaboration with Schnauss. Fans will note the similar dense layering quality of the song with frontman Ryan Policky's signature enveloping vocals. Schnauss adds a layer of keys to this crashing melody, jolting the listener right into the shoreline.

More production work for Exit Calm:

Ulrich will play at Bloc Weekend in March. Worth going as he will probably preview new material that he's currently recording. Oh, and Future Sound Of London are gonna play there, via ISDN-type link.

You think? My impression is that they turned the volume up on the mids and especially the highs, but forgot to do that on the bass. Thus quite much of the groove and magic is gone. Too bad!

WOW!!!

Thanks for this tiny little info...

By the way, I personally think the remastered editions are not so delayed and blurred like the old ones. Well the differences are not huge but on a well stated hi-fi system you can hear it...

Here's a new interview with Ulrich:

"however, the new record I started working on this summer will be mainly instrumental."

Yay! I really do think some tracks on Goodbye would work better without vocals, particularly "Shine" and "Goodbye" itself.

The radio show contains mostly collaboration work done in 2008 - good to hear them all in one place. Sadly, there's no preview of the real new yet-unheard material that Urich is currently working on:

Really? The best track on "Goodbye" (in my opinion), is "Goodbye" and the vocals add to it, not distract...

I used to listen to a bootleg recording of Ulrich's lab30 gig from autumn 2005 quite a lot, since the album seemed to be delayed forever. All the six tracks which would eventually end up on "Goodbye" were vocal-less - that is the norm with ulrich's gigs, he always takes the vocals out. Maybe that biased my view heavily - I also think that the extended version of Einfeld with the gorgeous piano playing is better than the one on the album :) They were also mixed in a way that's much closer to ASIP than Goodbye.

Ulrich has been sampled, of all people, by Axl Rose, on track 9 of the new Guns'n'Roses record. In the intro there's a snippet of Wherever You Are, followed by a bit of A Strangely Isolated Place.

No kidding!
