Episode 10. And still more questions than answers...

But the thing is I'm worried about this turning into another "Twin Peaks". For those old enough to remember, this was a peak viewing TV series in the early 90's. which was quite similar in as much as all the hype surrounding the show and all the clues you had to look out for and everyone discussing what everything actually meant (only slightly more surreal as it was by David Lynch!)
But the thing is, it went on for a few series and people didn't get any answers, none of the mysteries were really resolved (or when they were it was too late) so people gradually lost interest...

Sounds exactly like the X-Files - i.e. it went on for too long, lots of questions unanswered, people got bored and didn't care who David Duchovney's character's father was/is/etc!

I watched the x-files film last week, my god it was DIRE!
And I loved that series when it 1st came out!

Now don't you be dissin' Twin Peaks! I didn't watch it back in the day, but I've caught it in reruns and bought it on DVD. Yes, there are unsolved mysteries, but I blame that on the series being canceled after season 2.

I have lost some of my diehard enthusiasm for Lost, although I still really like it. Among current running series I rank it 2nd behind the new Battlestar Galactica series (which you really should check out if you're into sci-fi at all (and even if you're just kinda into it. My sister absolutely loves the series). I didn't watch the original BSG, but I understand it was really cheesy. The new series is very mature, and deals with themes you'd not expect to find in tv sci-fi).

Yeah it will kick off if my boyfriend doesnt "find" episodes 9, 10 and 11.

I don't think Twin Peaks was as obscure or as long as you make out.

The actual mystery of who killed Laura Palmer was resolved in 14 episodes. This included the 8 episodes of season 1, and then the first seven of season 2. That amounted to only 2 weeks of Agent Cooper's investigations in 'Twin Peaks' time.

Peaks was then cancelled at the end of season 2, leaving only 29 episodes in all!

You are right that people lost interest however - it was really the first show of its kind (with one main story, rather than numerous stand-alone episodes) - so it took a lot of getting used to. The networks also fucked it around, so that didn't help.

I've started acquiring Season 2 of Lost, and I have to say I like the way it's going so far!

Well I'm still up to date although quite gutted theres not gonna be a new episode for 2 weeks now...

good job I've ordered 24 from amazon then.
Not that I have any idea whether I'm gonna like it.

24 is great Mem. I'm watching that at the moment, I've just started series 3 and have borrowed series 4 to watch straight after.
Its a shame because on play they get them in the Jan sale for only £17.99.
What a bargain, but unfortunately I purchased series 3 second hand one on ebay for £24.
