Hmmm. Hopefully the 'heavy rain' on the Thursday won't be bad enough to cause a swamp (maybe less people trampling on it?).

Sunday looks a bit wet though.

Does anyone know what the equivalent rain levels were in the muddy years? Is the 17mm rainfall at midday Sunday worse or better? I haven't got a clue what 17mm rain looks like in a field.

I liked this bit - "And we must have knocked down half the mountains in Somerset to make hard core." So that's enough to fill a pint glass then, is it?

When they talk about the volume of rain that falls it is an equivilent measure ie. in this case 17mm is the amount of water collected off of a 1 metre sq area in the time alloted iirc. This then has to be multiplied by the total area to get the total amount of water that falls, but if you levelled out the entire area it is still only going to be 17mm in depth. Of course what makes it seem like a lot of water is the way it will collect in all the low areas
Now the question is is the 17mm over the entire day (which is wet but not dangerously so) or in a much shorter space of time.

The National Ploughing Championships that are held over here every year does the measuring slightly differently and is determined by the footwear required.
The three levels are called Welly, Wader(all the fishermen out there will understand that) and Wetsuit.

Wow, our own rainfall expert!

According to Dave's link, this is what happens on Sunday:

6:00 11.2 mm
9:00 14.1 mm
12:00 17 mm
15:00 0.1 mm

So will I need wellies, waders or a wetsuit?

I just wanted to say to everyone who has been lucky enough to get a ticket and is going to Glasto, to have an absolute bloody blast, and don't let the weather spoil it!

The correct answer, of course, is scuba gear.

That's the spirit Dave! I would if I didn't have a 'house party' and sleepover for my 13 yr old son and his friends to oversee this weekend...and before anyone askes, yes this IS the same son :?

Have one for me!

Stupid not being allowed to leave the country right now / not having enough money / being in school at the moment :(

Maybe I'll setup my tiny tent and pretend!
