The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.
Unless you plug the wires directly into your skull, at the end of the chain is a set of speakers pumping back-and-forth turning ANY signal into analogue waves..."
lol. i knew there would be a reaction to the tracklisting. always is.
This is a release for the newbies, the people who like remixes and those who want a track or two of unreleased live material. For the likes of the majority of people who frequent the forum, it's going to be questionable but for new Orbital fans i think this sums up the history very well. 20 tracks for 20 years. Believe me, that track listing was debated a lot....
That's all really to say on it at the moment. I'm just glad Orbital are back out there!
Rhino release a lot of the Warners archive stuff don't they?
Fair point about 20 being a great intro for new fans, but to play Devils Advocate, couldn't they have done a bit more for the long timers???
Again your right Loopz - it is great that they are back!
I guess you have to put yourself in the various people's shoes and think what market you would want to aim for if you were them. Personally i would be selfish and get a release that is geared towards me but that wouldnt really sum up Orbital's history though. What are we trying to achieve with Twenty? The tracklist has to be geared around that...
There is one other thing i want to say but best check a couple of things first.
I'm just glad The Naked and the Dead and Sad But True are on there... despite the naysayers, I rank the latter track definitely as a "career highlight". But it's impossible to please everybody with a best of compilation. At least there's some interesting variety here, plus Tom's remix is a gem.
If you don't like any of the three (!!) best of compilations out there, you can just do as I did, and make your own.
I thought HALCYON (TOM MIDDLETON RE-MODEL) LUSH (HERVE’S ‘TREE AND LEAF’ REMIX) James Zabiela's mix of 'Impact' were the remixes not the new mixes. Oh well.

Are we dealing with nothing but sematics here? What qualifies as a new mix and not merely a re-mix? And what difference does it make? Or is just all sophistry by labels to sell records?
