I agree with a lot of those already mentioned, especially the adult cartoons, of which SOUTH PARK is the best I reckon.
TWIN PEAKS - yep, watched it religiously.
TRAILER PARK BOYS - say no more.
But the first one I thought of, which hasn't been mentioned to now, is THE SOPRANOS, which I think is my favourite of all time.

Kvagga, puni puni poemi is only 2 x 30 minutes, and should be watched as a dessert on top of the 26 eps of Excel Saga. Trust me, you'll have fun.
There's plenty of great anime out there, I haven't seen too many series from beginning to end, but many people would propose at least Neon Genesis Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop as something beyond regular television. I would agree, from the few episodes I've seen.
Twin Peaks I completely forgot about, although I still haven't seen beyond the first season. Being a Lynch nut, I can't believe I've let it slide. I have them on DVD somewhere.
But what I needed to add is EVERYTHING BY/WITH DAVID ATTENBOROUGH, from the 80's to the present day. Thank you BBC.

I've already seen the whole Neon Genesis Evangelion series and a couple of episodes, plus the movie for Cowboy Bebop. Good stuff, good stuff. NGE is one serious challenge for the brain and I'm not sure I got it all myself, but definately a good series. BTW, watched those 6 episodes of FLCL too and truly enjoyed it. Now off to get (cough*torrent*cough) Excel Saga...

I was wondering whn someone was going to mention the Sopranos. Work has meant I have missed every episode of the series so far though and 'tis finished here now.

Slugs! HE created slugs! They can't hear. They can't speak. They can't operate machinery. Are we not in the hands of a lunatic?
