Pelé

Pelé is a retired Brazilian soccer player widely considered one of the greatest players of all time. He is known for his successful career with the Brazilian national team and clubs such as Santos and New York Cosmos. Pelé was born Edson Arantes do Nascimento on October 23, 1940, in Três Corações, Minas Gerais, Brazil. He began playing soccer at a young age and quickly gained recognition for his skill and ability. Pelé made his professional debut with Santos at the age of 15 and went on to score over 1,000 goals in his career. He helped lead Brazil to three World Cup titles, in 1958, 1962, and 1970, and is the all-time leading scorer in the tournament with 12 goals. Pelé was also known for his contributions off the field, including his work as a humanitarian and ambassador for the sport. In 1999, the International Olympic Committee named him Athlete of the Century.
