Help please regarding Orbital MP3!!

Hi guys, I cut down the MP3 of the Manchester gig using Audacity so i could have separate tracks. When i play it through my iPod (AAC) it runs straight through, no gaps. However, when i burn it onto a CD, the tiniest, but also really annoying gaps, appear. Does anybody know why? BTW i have set the it to a gapless album, and no gaps in between tracks on the burning preferences.

In Nero, there are 2 areas where you have to set 0 seconds on the gap. Not sure what software you are using to burn though ? more detail

those standard 2 secs gaps are realy realy annoying!
often i forgot to get rid of them and burn, then im very unhappy with the product

O yeah forgot that bit. Using iTunes itself. Didnt use to do it from memory...

ahhh never used itunes that much. Give Nero a go, remember to do disc at once and then block all the files, right click properties and then select 0 seconds for pause.

iTunes (v7.0 and later) allows you to remove all gaps - select all the MP3's in an album (or whatever format audio you've converetd them to), and then there should be an option for "Gapless Album" - setting this to "Yes" gets rid of the 2 second gaps...

Remember to replace the audio files on your iPod - either by auto-synching (which I turn off), or by removing the files on the actual iPod and copying the "gapless" versions back onto it (from computer to iPod).

Edit: Not sure if this still works when burning a CD?

Thanks guys for your help. i have tried the gapless album and setting the gaps to 0 but it still does it, so im going to give nero a go when i get chance

On the subject of chopping a big MP3 into separate tracks... does anyone have a free bit of Mac software they can recommend for doing this? Ideally, something where you can just put markers for where each track starts and it will chop it into multiple tracks automatically. Audacity seems to need you to pick each track's start and end points individually, which is a pain to make sure they match up perfectly.

fission is the nicest mac app for splitting mp3s - it's not actually free, but there are ways around that if you're so inclined.
