The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.
can any of you good forum members tell me if the version of this which was on the select magazine Journeys By DJ's give away tape in May 1995 is a different version than any of the versions released on the CD single ? I still have the tape box, but unfortunately have lost the tape
I assume it is because it is labelled the "We Did It" mix on the tape, whilst there is only a "They Did It" on the Cd release. Can any member with this tape in their possession please verify , with track length etc ?
Whilst I'm in inquisitive mood, can perhaps the moderator tell me why in the remix section of the webpage, there is no mention of the remix that Orbital did for "Show Me" by daydreemer back in 1992 ?
Yup, I have said tape (need to try and find out) - can't remember if the mix is different or not - I'll keep you posted!
And, yup, Daydreemer remix isn't in discog (yet), neither is the Queen Latifah Orbital vocal mix of "Come Into My House". The dub mix of "Come Into My House" also appeared on CD single, btw.
The Dub mix version of Come Into my House, whilst a tad short, is better in my opinion than the vocal mix, which BTW I'm still looking out for ! Saw it for $186 on Gemm, but it's is a bit out of my price range !
have the vinyl of the dub mix, but didn't know it had come out on CD too.
Whilst we're on the subject of rare remixes - I'm still fruitlessly looking for the Global Method one - any pointers from anyone at all pleeaaassssseeee !!!
I've got the Select tape somewhere (although it's from well before I got into Orbital) and if I come across it when moving house soon I'll give it a play in the wife's car (only place we have a cassette player now!) and let you know if it sounds similar to any of the mixes on the AWH cd single...
Tape was mixed by Jusin Robertson if I remember correctly...???

Yeah,it was.I was listening to it just the other day(are rare day out for the cassette deck)and it's terrific
It's already cost me a small fortune geting hold of the various remixes out there !
But back to the original posting fellow orbital afficianados ! Are we any closer to knowing whether the select mix tape is a different version of Are We Here ? Wish I still had the tape - it was a really good mix with a few other gems on.
Select magazine itself which gave tyhe tape away, was a really good read also.

yes, we already have a live album now. a remix cd is the next logical step
It would cost a fortune...
Really?
Why?
Well, probably not a fortune, possibly 10 grand for the licensing rights (after all the remixed artists/record companies own the rights to the songs), so it could be done...

I'll turn on my desktop computer later on tonight, and play it again - I have an internal tape drive in there (think it's the only cassette player I've still got in the house?), from which you can record directly from cassette to PC!
