Fook me - you up for a ban then?

I reckon you should try to swerve this one.

It's a mobile camera van which sits on the bridge by the tollgate, taking pictures from the front.

So I'm fucked.

Think so bud, you could suggest Adrianne takes the points for you if she drives, keeping you on 9 points and preventing a 6 month ban?

From the highway code:

A driver who accumulates 12 or more penalty points within a three year period must be disqualified. This will be for a minimum period of six months, or longer if the driver has previously been disqualified.

Definitely fooked.

According to the lads here (become a real talking point in my office this!) if you plead that you'll lose your job if you lose your licence they sometimes allow you to keep the licence but increase the penalty...?

Yes, I've heard of cases like that. I think you have to prove (or lie) that you need to drive for your livelihood. If you're self-employed it helps.

i can talk with some experience with this one. i've been covering high mileages since the early nineties, fortunately not covering as much as I used to but was at one point doing about 70,000 a year. at this time i had my fair shair of nickings, the last one pushing me up to 12 points. despite driving being an essential part of my job and having a mortgage etc. i was still banned for six months, resulting in the loss of my job, so it doesnt look good. although i have colleagues at work who have totted up 12 points and got away with it so i guess it's just a gamble, depending on who you get on the day in court.

I'm hoping that the oldest 3 points have just or are about to expire. Seem to recall them being September 3 years ago. Possibly wishful thinking tho.

RE: 12 points - the cops once tried to stitch me up with a dangerous driving rap (6 points) when I already had 6 (I get caught on camera on a regular basis) and my brief told me that 12 points isn't an automatic ban and got me to think aboot pleading - need car for kids, work, etc.

Got off with the charge as I had witnesses who testified (truthfully) that the ob were lying.

The REALLY annoying thing (as ever) is that I know they have a van there sometimes and usually make a point of slowing down but I was listening to something on the radio and didn't realise I'd driven into the 50 zone.

They should allocate points in direct correlation with the number of miles you drive IMO. I've done 130,000 in the past 4 years so I'm bound to get nicked more than Mrs Chelsea Tractor and her 10 minute school run.

A grovelling letter and eating a lot of humble pie in court got me 6 points and a fine instead of a ban for doing 103 in a 60. I think it's just down to how lucky you are on the day.

Ok, this IS true, but you can have 12 points on a license. Anything OVER 12 points and you'll lose it.

I've had a 14 day disqualification period when I was facing 6 points on my license, because I already had 9 on there and losing my license would've meant losing my job, so my company wrote a letter...

Absolutely I do! The more cameras & general persecutory devices in the Bath area, the better.

from the DVLA website :
If you incur 12 or more penalty points within a period of three years you will be liable to be disqualified under the ‘totting-up’ system. Information on your driving entitlement and endorsements are sent to the courts and police on request.
All sounds a bit vague really....

Which takes me up to 12 points...

Oh those fuckers!
They were the ones that got me. Mine was 64 in a 50.
Whereabouts was it? Did you get a picture sent or did you request it? I'm thinking of asking them for the evidence now but there's no point if we got snapped at the same place.
You look real great.
