Terror Threats - Unbelievable Reactions

I've been watching various news programmes, & can't believe that I've seen people comlaining about delays & disruption at Airports.

Those people have the chance of arriving safely at their destination due to the skill & dilligence of the security services, & they winge about it - unbelievable!

Yes it's an arse that things don't run as smoothly as we'd like at the moment, but the fact that there are those who can't see that while we have a world infected with people who see the death of others as the solution to their percieved religious problems, we will have to have inconveniences, astounds me!

I applaud those who have been able to help keep peace and safety for all of us & will happily accept the delays I may experience in the future.

I was not surprised about that reaction at all.
I was off sick yesterday, so I ended up watching quite a few hours worth of the news.
Most of the public were resigned to the fact that the security precautions that were in effect were appropriate, but I did see quite a few people frustrated and annoyed that this had happened to "them".

It must have been incredibly frustrating being in one of those terminals, especially if you have a family and you have travelled a long way to get to the airport and no one has really told you what has been going on and why the aircrafts have been canceled or delayed and then not being able to turn around and leave.

I'm sure the overall majority of people understood the situation with the information they were presented with.

There will always be nob jockeys who only think about they're own well being though

They only shut the airport for dramatic effect. It's not like there was an actual threat yesterday - security forces just had intelligence that something was being planned and that a practice run could take place sometime in the next week. Nothing was ever happening yesterday.

So why cancel all flights? Because a police chief sitting behind a table saying "we foiled another terrorist plot" doesn't have anywhere near as much impact as having everyone panicking like they're about to die and watching shots of travel chaos and "saved" passengers on TV.

It's unneccessary and patronising.

Bollocks.

I don't believe that for a second. The damage to british economy alone would be enough for the security forces to react only if there was a direct threat.

But thats just my opinion.

Why did they shut it then? The arrests were triggered because the plotters had started making plans to buy tickets in order to make a "dry run". Nobody was planning to blow up planes yesterday. Nobody was trying to get on a plane even for a practice yesterday. All of the baddies were in their houses when they were arrested. So what reason was there for shutting an airport in such dramatic fashion?

I cant answer that because I dont know Funky.

Obviously there is a hell of a lot of intelligence that is not for public consumption.
I heard on the news today that there are still (can't remember the numbers) a handfull of "terrorists" associated with this plot still at large.

There maybe a bit of spin involved, as the british security forces need to redeem themselves after the whole Jean Charles de Menezes fuck up.

I really do believe that there must have been more to this for the governement and security forces to react the way they did.

The british economy and the world economy was severely damaged by what happened yesterday. I'm as cynical as the next guy (maybe not as much as you Dung

) but I do believe something very serious was about to occur...

I dont think for a minute BAA would have closed the worlds busiest airport and all the others unless the threat was real.

Interesting how you believe that without the police, government or security forces telling you that anything serious was about to happen. Nobody's even implied that it was, other than with the shutting of the airport.

I'm no conspiracy theorist or anything like that, I just think that the spin's particularly blatant on this occasion.

I wouldn't want to blindly accept this Governments word as gospel,they haven't got a very good track record on this kind of thing.

I don't accept the governments words as gospel Stylus.

I'm not a very political person and I don't really have any "strong" views about a lot of issues that are currently doing the rounds.

some people may find this as being ignorant, which I can accept.
I just cannot believe that what went on yesterday was no more than an attempt to make our security forces look good.

Maybe your both right, no one will ever know (unless there is a whistleblower), but for reasons I've mentioned above; I cannot accept that this was some kind of stunt.

Because if there are any other "plotters" out there that were missed in the arrests the first thing they may do is attempt to carry out the original plan. Get the job done before the law snags them too.
