CD burning software help?

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

CD burning software help?

Post by JIMBO »

Can anyone recommend some CD burning software (Mac compatible!) ?
My Toast 7.0 still leaves tiny gaps between tracks even with the settings on 0 seconds. It's driving me mad and ruining all me live Orbital moments!!

Cheers peeps! :D

Are you burning straight from Mp3 to CD? If so try coverting the Mp3's to Wave & then bruning the Waves to CD. Some software still has trouble doing gapless while decoding Mp3.

I'll have a look for this Nero thing Steve, no idea if there be a mac version. Maybe its my physical burner. Shame if it is as its supposed to be a decent one. Most of the files i was burning were FLAC files which I assume are v. high quality audio and come with the toast logo stamped on 'em. No idea if they have read/write issues akin to MP3. I haven't tried burning a cd straight from Itunes, but can't seem to import the FLAC files or easily convert them to another format. Any more ideas anyone? Thanks guys! :)

i don't -think- nero is available for mac.
if you're working from flac files it might be worth converting them to wav first before burning, but that might not be the issue. & i don't know about any mac burning software but you want to make sure whatever software you're using supports (and is set to) "disc-at-once" mode - which loopz mentioned. this burns the whole disc concurrently and is the only way of getting absolutely no gaps, as opposed to "track-at-once" mode which treats the tracks as seperate entities so there's always some gap.

*edit* googled toast, sounds like it supports disc-at-once, so have a look and see if that's turned on when you burn...

Thanks Dave!

DOA is turned on in Toast so that's clearly not the problem...What is the easiest way to convert FLAC files to WAV? What do I need to use?

Thanks Dave - nicely done!

MacFlac worked a treat to convert my FLACs to WAV and Toast was much happier with WAV files ; no more gaps for me! Yippee! :D

I owe you beer!
