i don't know how i'd got so lax to have missed the start of the new season (airing in the u.s.), but it means i get to catch up on the first half-dozen episodes binge stylee
have just watched the first episode, and it's truly fucking hilarious anyone who appreciates south park's sense of humour (& who hasn't seen it already ) should get on it asap.
'afore you watch that episode (10-01) tho, make sure you know the background about why isaac hayes (chef) left the show (and ideally have watched the episode from season 9 that prompted him to). if you don't know, ask me or a quick google should sort you out.
all classics. wrong humour at its best.
what i particularly love tho that they've been pushing more in the last few years, is the insightful and oh-so-passionate sociopolitical commentary, that can be scarily up-to-the-minute (i downloaded and watched the episode referring to the braindead kid getting taken off life support, then the following morning it was the metro's front page story ) - but more importantly, is always delivered with the full force of their wrong wrong humour
*edit* but seriously, go watch that new chef episode now
'Family Guy' far surpasses any other animated comedy in my estimation... Makes 'The Simpsons' look stale in comparison and if the crap Ricky Gervais penned episode is the pinnacle of that franchise then 'The Simpsons' are dead...
"Gimme the sight to see
another world outside that's full of
all the broken things that I made"
Hey now, the Simpsons isn't "dead", it's just old school... I do think they should gracefully say their goodbyes to the franchise rather sooner than later.
Well I don't see Family Guy as revolutionary in any way. Funny, yes - but it doesn't really has a lasting impact on the culture, I don't think.
i absolutely love family guy, was a change-of-underpants moment when they announced they were going to make a 4th season. but still, watched that south park yet dog?
It's done by the same people, but no way is it second rate!
The set-up is similar, but obviously with different characters. The dad is an all-American square-jawed trigger-happy CIA agent (opposite of Peter in Family Guy).
His family includes an attractive wife, geeky son, CND/hippy type daughter, an alien and a talking German goldfish, so you see the similarities.
