xmission.com mailing list archives no longer online

Post by stargurl »

You used to be able to see the archives of the old Orbital list by going to http://www.xmission.com/pub/lists/orbital/archive

But not anymore! And I must admit, that really kind of upsets me. I had actually started to download the archives last summer, figuring that they'd have to go down at some point... and now they're gone.

Thankfully, it seems as though http://www.archive.org has got a full copy of everything, which I am now downloading.

I was really, really worried/upset for a few minutes there.

The newer version of the old list is still online, but to put it in perspective, there was a post in February 2006, a post in November 2005, and before that nothing since June 2004.

Those archives are still online, but I don't really know how to go about grabbing them, since it's got a pretty HTML interface and each message is its own page.

However, the main thing is that the old list stuff is all safe through archive.org and on my computer now.
