AMSTERDAM - Loopz Pre-Gig Meet Up & Roll Call

Can anyone feel free to add suggestions for which pub they reckon would be a good place for Forum peeps to meet up before the gig. We'll see which places are most popular and then we'll choose the meet up venue. These have been immense fun in the past and a great chance to catch up with old friends and meet new people before going and shaking our collective asses off to Orbital Live.

i think the bulldog serves beer. but we are talking about leidseplein on a friday night, so the whole area is going to be swamped.

I'd recommend the bulldog - i't quite big and you can stand outside if the weather's ok.

i'll ask a couple of the peeps i'm comign with if they've gone to either of those. i know that i'm going to need to eat something before the show. however can i third the bulldog?

does anyone know what the melkweg rules are regarding cameras? i think most places don't care about point and shoot but they forbid slrs.

also, saturday i've got another buddy flying in to schiphol (sunday a group of us continue on to berlin for a few days before returning stateside) and we are meeting him around lunch there to catch a bus out to keukenhof in case anyone is interested in getting some culture (or sneezing a lot if you have allergies).

Hah. me being the local expert. Thanks aimee. Has it been that long that i've been here? I think I had over 4000 posts on the old forum. Anyway, avoid the bulldog at all costs. De Balie is quality. Nice and big. Cafe lux is smaller and backs onto the Melkweg. Nice music usually, but its quite small. It is a cool place tho. Cafe Cox is sort of joined onto the theatre across from the Apple Store. All these three are spitting distance from the Melkweg.

If youre not gonna meet at Leidseplein then you should really meet somewhere thats a) walking distance from the Central Station and then b) walking distance from the 1,2 or 5 tram (which goes every few mins to Leidseplein). Which leaves the fantastic BIERFABRIEK (beer factory). http://www.bierfabriek.com/ Its big too, and is walking distance to Spui (about 350m).

Eating tip: Check out Burger Bar for the best burgers in the country. There's three of them in the city now. http://burgerbar.nl/

should be ok as long as you dont use a big flash. if you dont need it, dont bring it.

oh i can confirm that. i personally haven't set foot inside one, but it seemed like a viable place where smokers and drinkers could be. i usually go to the rokerij if i'm in that area. i just figured it was a good place for smokers, drinkers, and smoker and drinkers to all be happy. but yeah, it is a trap for american tourists. so is the grasshopper for that matter.

i refuse to use a flash so that should be just fine. good to know i should be ok if i decide i'd rather use my slr.
