Omen II (Remixes)

Post by Acid Gaz »

I've seen this on eBay, but it's not listed in the Loopz discography (as far as I can see). Tracklistiing:

Omen (a little revenge)

Omen (7")

Omen (a lot of revenge)

Omen (are you ready to die)

Omen (12")

Is it genuine (no catalogue number is listed)? Whether it is or not, does anybody know anything about it or own it?

Cheers.

Looks like a bootleg to me (as does the scan on ebay), unless Loopz knows anything different??

Thanx, Usernick.

Can I clarify what you guys generally mean by 'bootleg'?

In the old (old) days, it meant an illegal recording (usually from a live gig) of an original artist.

I've also seen it used to describe mash-up tracks, such as the Christine Aguilera/Nirvana or New Order/Kylie 'bootlegs' where two tracks have been mixed together.

What does it mean in the context of some of these 'Orbital' records?

Well, looking at the ebay scans, it looks like the CD is a gold CD-R with a sticker on it (you can see the exposed bits of the gold CD-R towards the centre).

Image

In addition, the CD is in a jewell album case, whereas most CD singles come in either a cardboard or slimline plastic case.

The remixes have never appeared on any other promos that I've seen, so I'm presuming that they're remixes undertaken by someone else?

Finally, that "Omen II" graphic looks like it's been Photoshop'd...

Of course, this is all pure speculation, as it could have been a promo release back in 1990, or something rustled up by Warner/London now...

But, I'd still lay money to the fact that it's probably a homemade CD-R! :)

I see clearly now the gold CD - well spotted (I'm new to this eBay business, so it's a good tip!).

I've asked the seller who confirms that the remixes were done by a mate of his. Allegedly, they sent them in to ffrr and received a compliment from Phil himself.

Hmmmm...

'compliment' or 'complaint'?
Slugs! HE created slugs! They can't hear. They can't speak. They can't operate machinery. Are we not in the hands of a lunatic?
