The Big Chill 2006

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

The Big Chill 2006

Post by jessopjessopjessop »

It may be a long way off, but I'm already excited.

This thread can be for all things Big Chill '06 - rumours, wish-lists, plans etc.

My predictions/wish list to appear:

Ulrich Schnauss (to tie in with the new album release).

The Egg (they have all but confirmed their attendance).

Bent (will they have the 4th album written by then?)

Echaskech (I'm sure the lads would love this, and good luck to them!)

Discuss.....

Unfortunately I'm not going this year...

UNLESS...

Boards of Canada
Roots Manuva
Air
Goldfrapp
Plaid
The Herbaliser
Ulrich Schnauss
Luke Vibert
Lemon Jelly
Coldcut
Amon Tobin
Bent
Zero 7

...are all headlining (2hr sets each).

I might as well add that if by some godlike fluke all of these acts do get confirmed then I will only go if I win the Jackpot lottery on 27th May 2006.

Willsy- Fragile states were quite dissapointing. Beautiful songs but lacked a proper string section.

You want the Moon on a stick! How about an Orbital reunion for you too, hmm? ;P

BoC would be cool, but do they do festivals like this? They strike me as particularly shy creatures, snuggled up in dark sheds somewhere in the Outer Hebrides reading National Geographic and making things go 'wizz' with soldering irons....

Dog, I take it by your subtle winkie suggestion you guys are looking to do a DJ set there?

I cannot possibly confirm or deny that there is the chance we could be DJing alongside Hexstatic or anyone else in the Strongbow tent at The Big Chill. Everything could or could not be speculation at the moment.

I know, wishfull thinking but I've already decided I'm not doing any festivals this year.
As for BOC playing , apart from the Glade Festival I cant really think of a more suitable festival for them to play.
But they're bloody good at keeping out of the media spotlight arent they!

Sketchy!

Although it was only wishful thinking, and a well informed guess, ECHASKECH are actually playing at Big Chill 2006! Congratualtions, lads.

And here are some more details about other acts:

More than ever, the line up at The Big Chill represents quality music across many genres - from familiar favourites and seminal acts, to brand new, up & coming performers on their way to great things.

Jose Gonzalez, currently riding high in the national top ten album charts, Lou Rhodes of Lamb fame, respected folk master Martin Carthy, and young pretenders The Memory Band, Bellowhead and Tunng are among the standard bearers for new and traditional folk music. Francois K and a full live set from Xpress 2 bring the all-night dancing vibes. Nathan Fake, Jon Hopkins, Echaskech, Dollboy, Bussetti and Laroca are among the up and coming acts destined for great things. The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, The Bikini Beach Band and Burt Latino all return after riotous sets at previous Big Chill festivals. The Blue Man Group bring their unique, multimedia performance art to the Mediamix stage. Last, but not least, Norman Jay takes up his traditional Sunday afternoon Open Air stage slot.

Oh, and Mr Scruff is playing.

I don't think you'll see Bent at The Big Chill, unless they're going as punters and getting munted. I'll ask 'em though.

Obviously, Hexstatic are playing there, but thats a given ;)

Francois K, X-Press 2 live and Nathan Fake. That's some lush nighttime music right there.

Doubt I'll be going though. Most of my friends found Big Chill too bland for their tastes. :?
