DJ Shadow on tour

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

DJ Shadow on tour

Post by legspin »

Just in from a most excellent DJ Shadow gig. He's not promoting a new album he said, but the quality and range of the new stuff he played must mean one can't be far away. It really was most impressive. The re-mixs of the older stuff was top-notch too. Quite hardcore (well to my ears anyway).
The visuals were of a supreme quality as well. The mapping of the centre visuals alone most have used a huge amount of memory.

If you get the chance I highly recommend a trip to see him.

Is he still playing stuff from "The Outsider"?

I really didnt get on with that album, but I would still love to see him in action.

I don't have it so I'm not quite sure but I recognised most of the old stuff he played so I don't think so. Great versions of 'Organ Donor' and 'You can't go home again'. It really seemed like a very short gig ( just under 1 & 1/2 hrs) but that was partly 'coz it absolutely flew.

He played in my hometown of Utrecht a while ago, and it was very cool indeed. The visuals where great! The music was loud and fast.

But I kinda missed seeing what he does. Being inside that sphere and all. I like to see what an artist does with all his toys :P

Still, it was great, and I can't wait for an album. Wonder what it'll sound like.

he said he was working on it. he called the new songs he was playing 'version 1.0' and he would be back in 1 or 2 years to do a version 2.0 when the album got released :P
