Music you liked in 2006

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

I dont be posting much these days, but always lurking. You've stirred my curiosity though. Who are Toy???
What they sound like????
Do you have any links for me (to many discogs to figure who you are talking about)?????

cheers,
Ricky
Sure, no problem - here's the discog link

Best place to discover what their music sounds like is on their Myspace page here - fun is how I'd describe it! :)
Danke Schön Herr TCB.
I'll be checking that out.

cheers,
Ricky

I'm trying to make a shortlist and make a yearmix.
So far i got songs for a 4 hour set i think :D

certain are:
Robbie Williams - Lovelight (serious. the album is mostly crap, but this one is cool)
Joakim - Wish You Where Gone (fab fab fab)
Orbital - L.C.2. (not really 2007, but that's not the point)

ah well
i'll just post the real stuff when the mix is done
if it ever gets done.

Still haven't got round to doing a top 10 of the year, but I just had a quick think of some favourite tunes of 2006 and these 10 were the first that came to mind. I'm sure I've missed off some of my real favourites, but I enjoyed all of these a great deal.

Gabriel Ananda – Doppelwhipper (live)
Monoroom – Memory Inc Part 2
Jimpster – Square Up (John Tejada mix)
Square One – Vesuvius (Justin Martin mix)
Djuma Soundsystem – Les Djinns (Trentemoller mix)
King Unique – To The Left (L.E.D. mix)
John Dahlback If You Give Me
The Knife – We Share Our Mother’s Health (Radioslave mix)
Martinez – Bedouins
Maskio - Monday

Spent so much time listening to new,old and re-discovered music I lost track of what came out when but albums by Zoo Brazil,Claude Von Stroke,John Dahlback,Ellen Allien and Mike Monday scored for me last year, amongst others.

Way too many singles to highlight although Andy Cato's 'la luna' did bring a big smile to my face for pretty much the whole year. :D 8)

Didn't buy many albums but these are the ones I remember I did:

Lou Rhodes - Beloved one
Martha Wainwright - self-titled
Damien Rice - 9

Not really much similar to you guys, altho yay Aimee for listing Lou, I am SO out of the loop for electronica stuff! :D

Tell me you've heard Lewis Taylor's original. Infinitely better - Williams should be shot for trying to turn it into some homosexual electro-pop.

One band I liked in 2006 was The Guillemots, who may or may not be to peoples' tastes here...

Thats because the computer you was using has dodgy Sophos Anti-Virus installed (most companys use it because its cheap for a corporate deal ;) ). Sophos was having a moment basically.
