General Orb News Thread

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

You should feel cheated Rich, there are 8 other months that have been omitted from your diary. Given the choice I would rather have Troms...

Taken from LX's myspace site:-

"the orb moves into another year, another album, another lineup . I have been recording the dream ( MECHTA) in the dreaming cave studios in south london with youth & tim bran. it's a turn back to our old days , we mean it man. more humour & big bass lines ! the album took on new turns when we invited Mr Hillage down & we got a few beautiful guitar parts from him. we have vocals from Juliet Roberts , D'eric walker Andy Caine & Aki Omor . we also have mix's by andy hughes & greg hunter ,clive goddard & david nock. also there's a chance there will be a free covers album by the orb called " orb ups " with the dream. date time 10/ 9 /007. LPO will carry on as a THOMAS & LX project & we are planning new adventures for the orb already !"

Bit concerned with the amount of vocalsits on this as I much prefered the old-school 10 min+ electro-house-dub of UFOrb...
Wonder if the covers lp will have Silver Machine on it?

Got Orbsessions vol 2 yesterday and it's fekkin magic.
Pisses all over vol 1 and indeed most of their released output since UFOrb - it really is that good.

Bulk of the tunes this time round seem to be from the Cydonia sessions - hindisght's a magic thing but LX should have kept them on there instead of replacing them with the vocal tracks...

You need to hear It's a Small World... :applause

Nice, but why Towers of Dub and Assassin on Disc 2?
Both are easy to get a hold of - they should have put Silver Machine and Hashassin on there....

They'll probably be in a future boxset! :P

And, I guess that "Towers Of Dub (Ambient Mix)" was only really available on vinyl (although a version was included on UFOff)... Also, Assassin was a "single" off UFOrb, so I guess that a version of some sorts would have to be on there?

Still, I think that the live version of O.O.B.E., and the mixes of Close Encounters and Majestic (assuming it's not the Millwall mix) are exclusive?
