This seemed to happen alot at the Picnic as well. Indeed, it seemed to stymie the band from really rocking out on occasion as you could hear them pulling back when the feedback kicked in. I did notice the f.o.h. engineer being quick to knock the levels when it happened but it was an on-going occurence, and the band reacted. I think that if Paul is going to go out more often he needs to practice with a live P.A. to try and get the levels right. Difficult if you are playing at a festival and the first band on stage, but it shouldn't be a problem if you are the headline act.
