re: donnie darko (more SPOLERS)
re Timbob and Kvagga: Yea, I don't think "Frank" time-travelled really at all, if you mean the guy who drove the car and who got shot. But I think "Frank" was more of a haunting ghost of the future for Donnie, and so the Bunnie-Man was really just a kind of "vision" of the future (a premonition?), blended in with Donnie's own desires - like the thing about burning down that guy's house, that was just Donnie's own desire, right?
So that whole time-travelling business was just something Donnie himself ended up doing, but he sort of "saw it coming" as well. I think Donnie was a psychic, in a way: a love-sick psychic?
What a fun film. You could analyse it for hours on end.
It's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake
Napoleon Dynamite - great little curiosity of a film...funny and, as Ed says, very sweet. I love the way it's got a very mid-80's feel and seems to be set around that time but has anachronisms such as the Internet and the Backstreet Boys in it!
Nice to hear the Penguin Cafe Orchestra in it. And the last track before the credits : 'The Promise' by When In Rome. I thought I was the only person in the world to know and remember that song!

(More possibly spoiling conversation of Donnie Darko...)
Kansler and Memly: Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I was beginning to suspect myself that there were more "supernatural" powers involved... Also, now that I think of it, my initial thought of Frank (yeah Kansler, that was the name of the guy/bunny) timetravelling couldn't have been right anyway, since he had the bullethole in his face already when he showed it to Donnie the first time, and with the rule in timetravelling being to follow one's predetermined path (I guess back or forth) I think the body of Frank would've changed physically back as well. Also initially I thought that Frank might've had some future knowledge of the guy's (whose house he burnt down) paedofilia, thus making him do that. But it probably was, like you said, in the end either just Donnie's own desire or his possible psychic powers... Especially since I don't remember a good reason for him having flooded the school (which would suggest only inner desire).
And who knows, maybe everything was all just part of Donnie's hallucinations and we were inside his head the whole movie, without ever knowing what really happened and if there was a Frank or even a Gretchen in the first place...
Whoops, long geeky analysis, but you're right, it's damn fun to analyze it.
