Guess Orbitals setlist for the big chill here.

Post by Timbob »

Amazed this one wasn't here earlier!

Right, here we go, in no particular order, songs i think that will probably get played:

Remind
Chime
Docter?
Impact
Belfast
Halcyon
The box
Satan
Pants
One perfect sunrise

And also, Songs i wish they will play:

OMEN!
Deeper (Will probably never happen, but is still one of my favs.)
Are we here
Bigpipe style, or Old style
Weekend ravers (Sorry steve)
Illuminate

I'm really hoping they will do a sort of trip from begin to end and finally hear some of the older songs live. (some of the green album stuff etc)
How many songs can you fit into 90 minutes?

Yes I to am hoping for some kind of alteration to the live stuff...

I pretty much think they will keep the same setlist from 04, playing Chime so early in a set would be strange but good. I like that idea.
I am rooting for the following set in this order:

Forever
The Girl with the Sun in her Head
You Lot
Tootled
Halcyon
Impact
Remind
Nothing Left Pt 1&2
Chime
Shadows

Although I respect both you and your opinion Timbob; this is a much better setlist than yours and Belfast next to Halcyon I think is a bad idea and generally my setlist is better.

That's why i typed "in no particular order"

Also, the first list isn't as much as i'd like to hear, but songs i think they will probably play....
But we'll see...
And they'll never play shadows :P

We both know that was a clause so if anybody disagreed with your list then you could say:

*puts on silly voice*

"That's why i typed "in no particular order"

spend some more time on your reading mr "insert name here" :P

Also, the first list isn't as much as i'd like to hear, but songs i think they will probably play....
But we'll see..."

Yeah yeah....
Bloody good job that they will never play Shadows too. That would definately be my "piss break" tune.

Hmm....

One Perfect Sunrise
Know where to run
Halcyon
Satan
The girl with the sun in her head
The Box*
Impact
Are we here?
Midnight
Lush

Doctor?
Chime.

I too hope that Chime gets played earlier in the set but I doubt if it will.

* Just 'coz of the effect it had when I saw Paul live, is there any chance of having someone actually play the hammered dulcimer on stage...?
...Nah, I thought not!?

On a purely personal side I would love them to play Transient (as much a time of the year thing as anything else). That however, is even less likely.

I really don't mind what they play but if Tension comes on I might just follow Mem to the bog

Utter tosh.

Its the way they're meant to be listenned to! Sounds good enough to me on the album.

"Knowhere to run"? Nice. Not a patch on my stellar set list, but props to ya...

I think its about time they changed the encore though. Still finish with Chime, but I think it maybe time to substitute Dr? for another tune entirely and move impact (my favourite) to somewhere in the middle.

"I really don't mind what they play but if Tension comes on I might just follow Mem to the bog"
Bloody hell Rich, I dont have cystitus! I only intend to do a portaloo run hopefully nunce, maybe once and I supsect it will happen at the most crucial moment of the gig (usually does).

I'm liking OPS as an opening number... not quite up there with Forever, but good try

Anyway I better be off before my patronising tone gets me into trouble.....

I do hope that they come up with a surprises.

I will be very disappointed if they have the same big gaps between tracks that they did on the farewell tour.

I would love to hear them start with Chime for example and to me they have to keep Dr Who near the end for the plebs.

But on the whole i wish for a set of crowd pleasers with some new twists and no gaps between tracks

why? whats wrong with gaps?

surely there was a good reason for them!

like having to rest there gear , tempo between tracks , etc

interesting angle though judging a set by the gap between songs , shame they don't just have it all layed out on abelton at the same tempo and key for total nonstop pumping action! or if you want to go old school have it all on a dat ( sorry i am taking the micky a bit now! )

still i agree with you on the idea of a set of crowd pleasers but i hear there going to drop doctor as it's too mainstream now what with the tv series , i heard they were going to replace it with the tomorrow people or children of the stones...

Seen them 10 times mate. Thought their last gig at Brixton was easily the worst performance. If you compare, for example, the segue between funny break and belfast in their 2001 set to the long gap before belfast in the brixton gig, i dont how anyone would prefer the gap. totally arsed the atmosphere for me.

ten times ! what was your earliest gig and what was the best for you ?
i have to ask was the performance of belfast better in 2001 or the last brixton, regardless of gap/segue?
i was at brixton that time too btw wouldnt say i prefer the gap just not really awaire of it , what did they play before belfast last brixton?i mean of course a seem less show is great if possible but like i say you can't always mix tracks for tecnical or artistic reasons i.e. too much key /tempo change ,.
i guess the gaps in an orbital gig seem bigger than some bands because they don't have a lead singer whitering on between the songs!
