Reviews

Has anyone spotted any reviews or previews for the 8:58 album? When an album release is getting near - particularly in traditional cases like this when the whole thing hasn't been leaked - I love reading all the reviews as they spring up on blogs and in music magazines. It really heightens the antic...

Re: Paul in session on Radio 6/new album details

Paul's cover of A Forest is seriously eerie! Love the 'found sound' percussion. Can't wait to hear the finished version. Exciting to hear him mention In Sides (if you want to compare it to an Orbital album), and glad he's working with Flood again. I liked the The Ideal Condition, but felt it would h...

Wonky - One Year On

If my memory serves correctly, Wonky was released a year ago this week. What are your thoughts about the album 12 months on?

Underworld - And I Will Kiss

Has anyone heard this track from the 'Isles of Wonder' Olympic opening ceremony OST? It's the backing music from the 'industrial revolution' section they did. It features a few nods to the past (there's a bit of Rez and Two Months Off in there) but it's mostly an entirely new composition. It's 17 mi...

Re: The Gun Is Good cd promo on ebay!!!

I've been on the look out for this too, but $3o is a lot of money to pay for tracks I already own on vinyl and as downloads on a CD-R!

I'm also keeping an eye out for the Omen CD single, but the cheapest I've seen it for is 20 quid.

Re: Meltdown - Full 24 Minute Version

Thanks for your comments guys! I'm very impressed with the full version - it was well worth tracking down! Even though I like the album version, it always felt a bit like (to steal a phrase from one of the Wonky video diarys) 'a list of musical bits'. In the long version, I feel like the ideas come ...

Meltdown - Full 24 Minute Version

I've never heard the full 24 minute version of Meltdown and was wondering if it's worth tracking it down? Not a big fan of The Altogether really, but I do like the closing track. Does the extended version on the DVD add some different ideas, or does it just repeat over similar themes to the album one?

Re: Whilst Googling 'Orbital' and 'Pusher'...

Apparently the film's been pushed back to October, so probably won't hear anything of the soundtrack until nearer the time.

It seems like a relatively small production, so I hope there will be a soundtrack, or even a condensed downloadable version...

A really interesting, in depth article! Thanks for sharing this. I particularly like the references to science and other electronic music.

Don't Stop Me CD?

I'm posting this entirely on the off chance... But does anyone have a spare copy of the Don't Stop Me / Gun is Good promo CD they'd be willing to part with? I've been looking for a while now, but can't seem to find one for sale anywhere. I have a spare copy of the 12" which I'd be willing to tr...

Re: Reading while listening to Orbital

Orbital are great reading music - especially the soundtracky stuff...

Has anyone heard Lindstrom's 'Where You Go I Go Too' album? I always find that's great for reading, writing, and long train journeys. It's like Pink Floyd gone disco!

Re: Orbital are leading me to criminal behaviour.

I always think of it as being 'we roll'? It's interesting how everyone can listen to the same track and hear something totally different. In many ways, that's the beauty of it! And, to me, the chorus of New France sounds like 'burn and sway'... But I think Zola Jesus' vocals are quite a good update ...

Show start times?

Hi. For those who've seen a gig or two on this tour already, what sort of time are Orbital getting on stage? And are the support worth seeing? Can't wait for Liverpool tomorrow!

Re: Crowdsurge Pre-Orders

Yeah, mine hasn't shown up either, and I got the dispatch confirmation over a week ago. I sent the support@crowdsurge email address a message last night. Since I've been to HMV and bought the double CD anyway, I'd be just as happy if they refunded me. Pretty shoddy service! At least they got the tic...

Re: Crowdsurge Pre-Orders

Cheers for the update. Shame, but not the end of the world. There's an HMV a short bus ride away, so I'll go and buy the 2CD version (as well) when it comes out. It'll be quite nostalgic going to an actual record store on release day! Think the last time I did that was for Porcupine Tree's last albu...
