28th March – Website problems at Loopz & #aphextwin “4” Friday tune ;)
Brief daily update to say that we have a poorly server and we have reported it to our hosting company. I can reboot the server remotely to bring everything back up, but it’s crashing out on a daily basis at the moment. Hopefully will have some good news soon, but until then come back later if the site is dead. thanks
meanwhile…here is a nice Friday tune 🙂 This is when a snare rush was not so common….
Aphex Twin – “4”

Repeat after me…. “Yep”
This is a total guess but it’s a problem we’ve been having more and more with a few of our clients running WordPress. Check your access logs for excessive calls to xmlrpc.php. It’s often used in amplification attacks where your site might not be the target but is used to amplify the amount of data that can be sent to a real target. Do that from hundreds of machines and you can bring down some very large targets. Unfortunately the amount of work that your server needs to do can bring some smaller VPS’s to their knees. Search for WordPress xmlrpc pingback amplification.
As I said this is a total guess. 😀
Thanks for the headsup. We have a resource issue for sure but since the latest change, all has been well. Still monitoring at the moment though.
