Paul Hartnoll Interview & 2 New Tracks

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

Paul Hartnoll Interview & 2 New Tracks

Post by shadyboy »

Found this:-http://www.eastvillageradio.com/news/it ... x?id=13626

From the 23rd April and features 2 new tracks - newer version of "Don't Stop Me" (don't like the Shut-up sample...) & "The Gun Is Good" (classic Orbital) & a nice interview...

Don't Stop Me - Seems this is the third version of the track. I like the original better, with the female vox samples saying "Don't Stop Me". Much more "Orbital" sounding. New sample with the vocoder sounds a little silly.

GIG is nice and tight. Looking forward to hearing the final version of that one!

I suspect it's sample clearance issues. The original 'Don't Stop Me' sample wasn't female, it was male, and if I've identified it correctly, I'm not surprised if clearance was an issue (won't say what I think it was on here though).

Kinda interesting to hear DSM with less obvious samples (readying it for a release? ), I suppose that the live version might keep the original samples in there?

Might be something out of nothing, but was also interesting to hear Paul say (hint?) there would be a cracking record there once they've toured the arse out of the new stuff? :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

Eh, I'm being overly critical. Orbital is back!

EP soon? Album later? These tracks feel more at home on a special EP.

Agreed, both the cut up vocals and the vocal part that has been de-tuned and messed about with were unfortunately too obvious.
It now sounds like the "Dont Stop Me" sample is in a different key...
Great though and I agree that the original version I heard on Triple J is better.
Not sure about the added samples either.

Liking the new tune too.

Great find Shady!

Absoluting LOVING "The Gun Is Good". Great acid sounds and samples...classic Orbital.

I actually really like the new samples and Vocoder on "Don't Stop Me".

Will be intersting to see these added to the live set up.

Is it David Thewlis on the sample in "The Gun Is Good"?

Fantastic to finally hear some new Orbital!

Can someone fill me in on the "Don't stop me" sample? I've identified the "oh-ah, oh-ah" from Video Killed the Radio Star, but I can't place the other one.

Yes, that is most definitely against the rules! I'd take it down yourself before a mod comes along!

PS There is something very funny about this, and I wish I could name names!

I'll leave it to the mods to remove if they decide it's against the rules. It is after all just a rip of something that was broadcast online (and readily available in the initial post). This just makes it more convenient to listen to.

I know in my situation, I can only listen to the interview in iTunes, and it won't let me scrub through the broadcast to get to the tracks. This just makes it easier for me to enjoy.

Fair enough!

I suppose the rules say live mp3s are OK!
