Thanks Phil and Paul for the videos. As a long-time Orbital fan, I’d love to see future videos dig into more detail about what you do to make your music. Some possible topics I’d love to see:

    1. WTF is that “map”on the whiteboard? 🙂 I’m totally intrigued. Can you explain how it was created, what it means, and how it applies to the music you plan to create? Were similar diagrams used to create your previous albums or is this something new? What’s your thought process — can you hear all this music in your heads and you just have to get the tracks down, or is the diagram some sort of high-level outline of how the music will flow?

    2. How do you build your songs? Maybe you can have a diary entry showing the creation of a track from start to finish. Your music is amazing and unique and I’d love to see how you put it together. Your fans see the genius of the *result* but have no insight on the *process*. Not to kiss your ass too much, but no electronic band has ever touched the beauty and intricacy and brilliance of your work — what makes the Orbital magic happen? Something amazing happens in your studio — do *you* know what it is? Just seeing it happen from the outside would be amazingly cool.

    3. I’m not a musician, but an equipment walkthrough would be cool for a lot of people. I remember a video of Phil showing off his equipment, including the venerable 303. Very fun to watch.

    4. And one self-indulgent question that you probably don’t need to answer: do you enjoy your music as much as some of your fans do? Some of your music blows my mind — the last 5 minutes of “Out There Somewhere” can make me smile and dance and cry all at the same time, unlike any music on earth. I know lots of people who feel this way about your music. Does it move you in the same way?

Anyway, keep the videos coming. I’ll buy your new album the minute it’s released. Thanks for everything you’ve done. It’s hard to exaggerate the profound effect you’ve had on people and music in general.

I just about spit up my morning coffee when Paul mentioned my name. It made my day!

Thanks to you Steve for all the work you do on the site to keep the Orbital news coming, and many thanks and best wishes to Phil and Paul. If you ever find yourself in the Pacific Northwest in the states, pints (and curry!) are on me!

    Cheers,

    Pete
